if scratches really bother you, you can pick a full ZDP blade or a DLC coated blade, they rarely get scratched up.

Question, what is similar to a Persistence, but with better steel? BTW, anybody know where to find a hard-use vid with one of Spyderco's value knives (P/T/R)?
You may take a look at Native FFG, Caly 3/3.5, Sage, Delica FFG, Persian mini 2, and many more

First of all, I have to say I'm not trying to bash your friend. With that said, if he is planning to "use" a knife like he is planning to do, Spyderco might not be the brand or the premium steel S30V native might not be the type of blade that he should be looking at. He should be looking a...

If Tenacious is made with S30V and in Golden, it would be on par with Para and Military. and will be priced as that. Would you buy a Resilience/Tenacious/Persistence at $100+ a piece?

i live less than 100 meters from the ocean and I never have any knives naturally rust on me including carbon steel. Unless I purposely leaving lemon juice over the blade, that both ZDP and D2 rust pitted over night. Therefore H1 doesn't seem to do anything for me unless one day I decide to go for a ...

SG2 is good stuff, hardness is close to ZDP but ZDP is still the king. Blazen keeps his blade stock super thin, yet the SG2 can hold the edge with no chip or roll at all. Has better rust resistance than ZDP, so I would say SG2 (when heat treat properly) is the best thing you can get in kitchen cutle...

IIRC my FRN sanding experience didn't turn on too great, never look quite the same as factory molded, G10 on the other hand can be sanded to be like brand new from the factory YMMV

I have had poor experience with BM 154CM, the mirror edge i put on mine didn't last at all. Pretty much gone after couple cuts with cardboards. I personally don't like it but I have stories otherwise, YMMV

D4 has a thinner 2.5mm blade while the caly jr has a 3mm blade, yet caly jr has a thinner/narrower (<30") edge from the factory, the D4 I had has a closer to 40" edge

I agree, buffing can be very dangerous, there were a few times that the edge got caught while I was polishing the blade, the blade flew out of my hand in high speed, good thing I was wearing some heavy duty gloves. so be extra cautious or you might ended up having difficulty to get back to us and le...
