Great pictures. I didn't realize the size of the Anso. It always looked big and clumsy to me in the pictures, but beside that Urban... I may have to buy one now...

I will pass, the same way I did on original Urbans. Why would I need another slippie? I still can carry locking blade. It's not about laws, if that's what you mean by "still can." the choil on the Urban makes it as secure as a lock blade, but because it is slip, much faster to open and cl...

I wonder if compared directly, what would make you choose the Urban over the D'fly? Besides that it's a slipjoint? I own a few Dragonfly's. In my opinion the Urban is better in every way. The only time I use a Dragonfly now, is the Salt when I know I will be spending most of my time soaked for what...

Spyderco is a business and it's decisions can't be made based on love of a model. Yeah, but I feel better now that I let it all out. Personally, I just don't think it was different enough from the UK Penknife for most folks. They are completely different, slip lock aside. I have a Caly3 and I haven...

Spyderco Urban dead? Why Sal, Why?

Why Sal, Why? I see the Spyderco Urban listed as discontinued. I am really disappointed to see such a great knife come to its end. What about the once spoken of FRN version? What about one with a lockback (my endless plea!)? This was the perfect knife. No other can replace it for me. Great ergonomic...

An Urban.

But FRN handle with dual skeletonized stainless steel liners, phosphor bronze washers, and David Boyle dent back lock.

I'd want to keep the VG-10 steel.

I was re potting a bunch of plants yesterday and using my Dragonfly H1. Amidst all the soil, roots, and cuttings, I sure did appreciate that yellow handle. Once when I was winter camping I put my F1 down next to me for just a moment. Turned back around and it had disappeared. I guess a bit of snow g...

Bladekeeper- You make good points and I understand where you are coming from. I figured the super steel offering were more flash than anything else. No point on wasting money to find out. Jim and Dr. Snubose- Thank you for sharing your experiences. I don't visit the forums enough (which saves me sig...

...because it won't be used as a last ditch knife. I see practical uses for a knife that stays in place, but allows my hands full function. As I said before, I have no interest in the LeGriffes or other similar knives with holes and tails. They may seem similar, but I do not think they can function ...

Thank you for the recommendation Bladekeeper, but the HAK really is its own. Most other designs have extra holes or 'tails' or fancy blades. There is something very attractive (to me) about the seemingly utilitarian design of the HAKs. Jim, when did you buy your HAK? Is it an 'original' or one of th...

Hideaway knives

I've looked through the archives and like most knife forums the shady and even deceitful history of this company is well documented. I must admit though, even after all these years, I am still attracted by the design. I see they are now currently offered though other dealers (eg. Fenix Outfitters) w...

Urban Leaf- H1 with FRN

Urban Leaf- Thin G10 and metal liners... maybe a lock....? Not exactly an 'Urban' anymore, but I love the ergonomics of the knife.

Really anything to justify buying another Urban...

Good post Handwrecker. After reading it I did some research and I (and it would seem many others) have misunderstood the use of 'work hardening.' Despite the pictures, I was still shocked when I opened the box. This is a tiny knife. No complaints about quality or construction- it;s a well crafted blade. For its purpose (Fit in a tiny emergency kit) the design is also impressive. It's just too tiny for me. I don't feel comfortable using it at ...
