Had one... hated the clip... sold it. Loved the knife and would have edc'd it, but hated the clip.

As for the rattle.......

Yes, I've had the rattle in a few of my Spyders. It is the "lanyard hole." The cylinder just barely rotates inside the hole and causes a rattle (at least, that is what it ...

Thank you for the illuminating answers. I see how the economics necessitate only having compression locks on the best-selling knives. I promise to research my questions next time!

Sal,

Thanks again for your note about the compression lock. I went with your ATR knife and it is everything I could ...

The rattle is the ring around the pin, on the inside of the handle, that makes up the lanyard hole. I fixed mine with some loctite, does require some assembly.

Wouter

An even easier fix is to apply a drop of rubber cement around the edge of the ring. This totally removes the rattle. I used a ...

Go for the Junior

As a proud new owner of a Caly Jr. ZDP I would recommend getting another for one simple reason: you can buy 2 for the price of a Caly3 and when you lose it again in five years you won't be quite so sad.

I guess it's offical, I've been looking for it for about 3 weeks now with no avail. I've ...

go with the better deal

Endura will fit great in a pocket. The SS is super slim! Just go with whichever you can find a better deal on.

Hi all,

I'm new to the forums and to spyderco, I can't help but be impressed by all I've read and heard and especially the amazing photo's found here.

I'm sure this question may have ...

Time for another reality check.

Realistic, and thus feasible candidates would be...

- Any current production model already in circulation with no change aside from forum engraving.

- Any models Spyderco knows are scheduled for production and is reasonably sure will be delivered to them by before ...

Not always wrong!

:spyder: That is odd. Tip down carry is just plain wrong! :spyder:

I carry my E4SS-SE everyday, and I was wondering about this too. I immediately switched the knife to tip-up when I got it, because I wanted to be "fast on the draw". After months of use, pocket lint slowly accumulated in the notch ...

c'mon, you know how it works.......

10 years ago we were all astounded by VG10, 5 years ago we were majorly impressed with CPM's.

let's face it, in 3 years, there will be even more better steel, and by that time we'd be considering ZDP189 like we do 154CM now... :D

Hi Boxcornersdiety,

As mentioned, bead blasting would increase corrosion and blackening would not be in the "spirit" of the model (NKP friendly).

on question #2, the maker than makes the Caly3 doesn't do compression locks. Compresssion locks are very difficult to make and require sophisticated ...

caly4 / urban suggestions

Hi Sal,

I wanted to emphasize my personal desire for two features which I'm sure have already been discussed.

1. ZDP-189. One would hope that the experience you've gained working with this steel along with the decreased blade length would result in a decrease in cost compared to the caly3-zdp ...
