Thanks Sal.

If it´s the usual Spyderco quality I´m looking forward to see how it will holds up.

FB Temperance coating?

Anyone have info on what coating Spyderco use on their Temperance and Perrin. I saw the new black coated models in a catalogue but there wasn´t any info on what type it was.

Thanks,

Hear, hear. Why not a joint venture with EKI were Spyderco produces and EKI designs semi-customs like the CR Sebenza. A "custom shop" online were you can add "bells&whistles" if you want (for an extra charge). A Waved EKI design with a compression lock and a 3.75 inch blade.....

Interesting thread. Different opinions always challenge my own views on self reliance. I carry a Gunting daily. Easy to keep out of sight and fast deployment when carried tip-up (removed the clip, going to replace it the other way around). I´ve always been one of the "Better tried by twelve tha...

Well since we are talking about voting (=hoping). Maybe we could see a Gunting with green G-10 scales and a tad bit longer blade. Would be very nice (and would shut up people like me constantly whining about a bigger Gunting folder). /Colinz <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=mi...

Thanks for the info. Yojimbo - have it on VHS <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> together with some other B/W Kurosawa classics. Interesting knife. The blade looks a little like a Szabo KerUUK. Would be cool with a blade that can be used in a reverse grip, cutting edge f...

Satori, Now I guess you got more than one person (me) curious. Yojimbo, a very good movie and now a very good blade? Tell us what did it look like? G-10 scales? Spearpoint, clip-point or what? Double liners in Ti or SS? Length of blade? Overall length? Traditional V-grind, convex/hollowgrind? Steelt...

There are two reasons for me to buy a knife. 1. It is a substitute for a gun (hard to get over here). 2. It will be a part of my collection (I like knives). The first reason is a selfdefense standpoint. I don´t use knives for "cutting stuff". The knives in this category always stays sharp ...

MJ,

Yes the lock is certainly the weak link in a folder (the pivot pin might be second). What if the liners where thicker, shouldn´t that take care of the lock problem?

Curious,

Sorry, not sure I understood you correctly. 1. What about carrying a big blade in a small package = a folder. 2. Long blade = deeper "slicing" penetration through thick clothing, when pushcutting doesn´t do the trick. 3. Thicker liners = tougher lock. Maybe good enough for some prying too....

dePaul,

No need to hold the blade when you flip it. Just make sure it´s properly lubricated. Smith honing oil worked best. Teflon coating worked also, until I gave the knife away to a friend. He managed to flip it open too.

A 4-4.5 inch blade would be good. Fat liners made for some prying would be nice too. Why? Well if my HK91 gets FUBAR when the Russians come crawling through the mountains, well at least I would be able to cut through their winter clothing. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middl...

Hi Sal, I´m thinking of a folder. It would be heavy and primarily meant for carry in a kydex holster. It would have all of the spyder features like the hole and clip. The weight would be hard to decide just sitting here and typing. There would be a need to do some real world testing under stressful ...
