Well on my ATS34 version the bevel for the serrations is narrower. And the bevel is not ground as steep as the CPM440V version. So technically the pattern is the same just how it was done was different. In another thread, Carlos said the change was made to prevent chipping with the harder steel ...

Sal I am curious since CPMS30V is supposed to
have excellent toughness for a stainless steel. Has the serration pattern changed back
to the orignal one, like on my ATS34 version?

Having just recieved my Spyderco catalog, I noticed that that the Military's blade is changing to CPMS30V. Will this mean the serrations will change back to the pattern on my ATS34, stay the same or change to a new pattern?

I have an old style engraved Military in ATS34 with groved finger choil, and a newer model in CPM 440V. Both are fully serrated but the serration patterns are different. The older one has a smaller pattern, while the newer one has a larger pattern and a steeper bevel.

I was just curious as to why ...

What has made the Ayoob really grow on me, was when I added stair tread tape to the handle. With a much improved grip now, I can really enjoy the ergonomic's of this knife. In my opinion this knife strikes the best balance of slashing and thrusting ability of any folder, period.

Why the Military ROCKS:
1. Flat grind, most other manf. don't even have one in their whole line.
2.Honking big handle, that does not feel big or heavy in your pocket.
3. Large Spyderhole, this in combination with
handle allows you to open it with gloves on. I wish ALL my Sydies had this size hole ...

from what you wrote above, it seems that reverse grip is harder to block. Is it also harder to disarm, once you have passed or grabbed a limb?

Also I was told by my FMA instructor that forward grip is best for offense and long range. Reverse grip is best for close range and defense ...

I would like to add one more advantage to the

In addition to the Wegner, I would also be curious as to the the lock strengh of the Military?

I would like to hear some opinions on opening a manual folder in a general self defense type situation, using either a hawbill or a conventional blade, sorry no Gunting openings.

Just thought I would throw in my 2cents, the Ayoob is overall a superior design for MBC purposes.

On minus side, still not found of the Almite coating, when trying to draw it quickly I have trouble keeeping it under control.
The handle could be slightly thicker, plus the while the deep carry of the ...
