Re: New Models Dropped: Meerkat, Baby Jess Horn, Manix Composite

Interesting. My blade tang is right on the 0.90" quoted in Spyderco.com's specs. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4365/36424954546_7dab9e4a1d_c.jpg Baby Horn stock thickness by Nate E , on Flickr What do your liners measure at? My knife has liners of 3/64" at full thickness, milled down to 1...

Original orange UKPK. That design works for me like no other knife has.

Re: New Models Dropped: Meerkat, Baby Jess Horn, Manix Composite

The Baby Horn is here and I am happy with it. I love the slim pointy nature of the design. Almost as keen a tip as the Des Horn. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4411/36070702930_01036c1741_c.jpg Baby Jess Horn by Nate E , on Flickr The finishing on the inside edge of the lanyard hole on the G10, wher...

Re: New Models Dropped: Meerkat, Baby Jess Horn, Manix Composite

The QC issues such as ones described so far on the Baby Horn sprint are disappointing hear about but honestly not surprising for me. Speaking very generally here, I think that when an old pattern comes back for a short run after a long time off it is more prone to have these things happen. It's stil...

Re: Your Favorite Obscure Spyder

The old JD Smith, hollow ground with micarta handles, feels long forgotten but it's a great knife. It got a sprint run a while back but the updated design features didn't do anything for me. Not sure how obscure the Persian is or isn't to folks but it was one of the nicest looking knives Spyderco ev...

Re: Smallish EDC Spyderco

The Cricket would be a strong choice (it eats blister packs for breakfast) as would the Dragonfly even though it's not your preferred lock type. Both are smaller than the Persistance but will be easier to carry and you'll get VG10 steel instead of the 8C/9C from the value line.

Re: Q Ball Bearing Lock (C219GP)

The lock access and disengagement being tough was my concern as well. The plain ceramic ball looks great but a cage would be much more practical.

Re: Spyderco 2017 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

Every Spyderco I've purchased with a screw pivot since 2012 has needed an application of loc-tite on the pivot screw to keep from literally falling apart from normal use . I don't know why. Simply opening and closing my CTS204P Military, DLC Manix XL, Pacific Salt SE DLC etc loosened their pivots t...

Re: Spyderco 2017 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

Why are only half of Spydercos pointy these days? Drives me crazy having to take all my knives to a belt sander to give them tips. I was planning to buy an H1 Manbug but that 90 degree angle tip....why? On a big knife I get it, you might be using it on aboat and drop it and don't want to stab yours...

Re: Your Blue Collar SPYDERS

Stainless Endura SE. I love that it's slim and easily goes in and out of the pocket but still has a very solid heft to it. I've never really looked for another outdoor/heavy duty work knife since I got it.

Re: Slipit Design Flaw?

I know this would not apply in the OP's case but did the UKPKs come new with any notes in the literature about what steps to take to change the clip and how it would be different than other knives in this regard because of the spring?

Re: People Stealing at Work...

Agreed that she should file a police report (and hopefully the other victim does the same) and make a formal complaint with her boss. She should also ask the boss about installing cameras. It would be good to do this via email in addition to verbally so that there is a record of it happening. Lastly...

A few more pictures. I did not edit any of these for color rendition but the last few had HDR tacked on automatically by the phone. Figured it was best to let the differences speak for themselves in terms of how the maroon looks cool vs. warm. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/269/19917219972_01b747ebd...

Re: Why not more knives with compression lock?

I think you answer your own question to some degree by mentioning the unique nature of the compression lock. Lock designs with longer tenure and more customers using and being comfortable with them would figure to be where more choices land. I think the compression lock is a cool design and I never ...

Re: Which SE Spydie?

I'd be inclined to go with a blade that has a more general EDC design (Native or maybe the Police from your list) over something specialized like a Matriarch, but then again I don't know your typical daily cutting needs. I have 2 SE Enduras and 1 SE Delica. Of all the SE knives I ever had those are ...

Re: 2015 Forum Knife Announcement

Whether one likes the Native or not, likes the steel or not, the color, or anything else...this knife is a screaming deal. I know the production knife game is doing things today that we would only dream of 10 years ago and S90V is not a new kid on the super steel block. Still, that much cutting perf...
