Re: Marcin Slysz SwayBack FrameLock Folder

So, uh, any news on this? Given that I've now bought a Techno and a Slysz Bowie, my wallet's more than a little bit worried. I'm guessing it's only a prototype for the custom pieces that Marcins does at this point, not for Spyderco. Just because a maker uses the Spyderhole under license for their o...

Re: New forum knife

I am not sure what the solution is to avoid such madness, but I would almost prefer not to see any future Forum Knives offered until some sort of remedy can be found. One would hope it doesn't come to that but if all can't act like adults about a special project that Spyderco is under no obligation...

Considering 4 of your 5 favorites have leaf shaped blades and 50/50 choils I'd have said go with the Native to continue the theme. And so you did. :D

Re: Can't decide, Maxpedition bags...

They have the same capacity per the manufacturer specs but shape and layout look fairly different. I guess the main question is whether you want the majority of the space in one compartment that tapers towards the top or two compartments that are pretty much straight rectangles. To carry a change of...

Not exactly in the pocket. More like near the pocket when I was standing at the counter. :D

Re: Spyderco's Legendary "IN HOUSE" Blade Designs

The original UKPK. For all the knives I've gone through, Spyderco or otherwise, I always come back to that one. Simple, efficient, attractive, effective. It's the one Spyderco I would keep above all others. It's the best knife design I have ever used.

Re: Why do I almost always choose a 3" EDC blade?

3" blades seem to be the sweet spot for me. The Native and UKPK were my go to daily pieces for quite a while before I got two other knives recently. One was a Delica, the other a Des Horn and those are right in the same neighborhood. So it seems 3" is the magic number whether I consciously...

Re: Why Not a Spyderedged Recurve?

In the case of the Ulize or other collaboration models perhaps the designer does not envision them with serrations and therefore it doesn't happen. A knife like that with a Spyderedge would be a fearsome cutter though. I'm with you on that point. One potential drawback for me would be that it'd like...

Re: Anyone into "traditional" folders?

My newest and a most interesting pair. As far as I know, a Case "Walnut Rope Knife" circa 1978 https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/O4i0W9ocjjcg2CYMOb2Pe2rg0X90poJqs8GVu8SFDyRn=w1510-h850-no The best part is that one is for me and the other is for my friend in Germany. The 11031SH I presume?...

Re: What Spydeco is in your pocket today??

Jess Horn Lightweight. I'm not wild about combo edges but this guy is great. This and the Cento 3 need a sprint run each - ZDP and BR Green FRN!! In case you did not know the FRN Horn did have a ZDP sprint in 2006. We could use another though, maybe Super Blue just to spice things up. :D Horn pair ...

I'd talk to your dealer first. If there's no satisfaction there then a 10 minute trip doesn't seem like much trouble to talk straight to the horse's mouth.

Re: The future of the Gayle Bradley Air

As much as I like the wire clip I feel the Air calls more for a sculpted solid clip like on the CRK Mnandi or like the one that was on the original Jess Horn. http://www.spydiewiki.com/index.php?title=Image:C27_jess_horn_closed_right.jpg" target="_blank It would need to be reworked at the ...

Re: Collaboration Sprint Runs

Off the top of my head I can think of the FRN Jess Horn in ZDP, C22 Walker with Almite handles, C22 Walker with CF & ZDP, JD Smith, Ayoob, Goddard, Lum Chinese in ZDP, and the Zowada as collabs that came back with sprint runs. So yeah, it happens. If they brought back the JD Smith again with a n...

Re: Pm2 liner replacements?

I've never taken apart a PM2 but it strikes me that the disassembly & reassembly would need to be done rather carelessly for it to the main reason why the pivot would have play in its liner hole. Was the knife otherwise abused, like batoning or spinewhacking?
