Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Ive been insanely busy with work the past few weeks. Tons of training, and playing interm department manager while my boss is on vacation. Took a walk down to the warehouse to check on something, snapped my first pic in weeks! It's a great shot. Love the photos with industrial background, but that ...

Re: Native Scout?

OK guys, somebody needs to be the adult and just not respond to the other person's barbs. We are all Spy-bros here (or Spy-sisters, if we haven't chased off all the women by now). Time to shake hands and get back to what we all love...knives! Pretty psyched on this [Caly] as well. I hope we get a ni...

Re: Native Scout?

...a 3.5" Native Scout (or LW Shaman) might win out if push came to shove.... Of course, there are the existing, as well as the upcoming, Calys in 3.5" length. Different knife I know, and with a hump, but they share some of the charm that the proposed 3.5 Native would have, IMO. In case a...

Re: Knifejoy Exclusive...Slysz Bowie??!!

The bowie is definetly not the goat in my eyes. Same here. I handled the original, and did not particularly like the wide blade with upswept belly. The whole design left me a bit underwhelmed to be honest, even though the execution and materials were nice. Different strokes for different folks. I l...

Re: Native Scout?

OK, I gotta admit, that's a very attractive size. Seeing it won me over. Can we just scootch the finger choil back into the handle a bit? There's plenty of room, and it'd leave more edge available for cutting.

Re: Calypso Jr Sprint Run Considerations

I may sound stuck in my ways but I wouldn’t change anything about the gray frn vg10 version for an frn version of the knife. Exotic high carbon super steels interest me too but there’s something to be said about well balanced fairly low cost effective vg10 steel. It’s all I really need for my uses,...

Why so? Asking because I associate hard use with toughness; tough VG-10 ain't.

Re: Calypso Jr Sprint Run Considerations

The Caly Jr is such a well designed short bladed folder that you could use it for all kinds of new innovations. It was the absolute perfect Spyderco model to introduce ZDP-189 blade steel which they did in 2005. The Burgundy, ZDP-189 Caly Jr. should go down as one of the top 10 best knives Spyderco...

^ I've often lost my pinch grip trying to pull my clipped-in CF Caly from my waistband. It's pretty durn slippery! Though I take your point that it does not shred pants.

Re: Chaparral

I'd like to see more steels for the Chaparral since it's one of my favorite knives. It's an exquisite, near-perfect design. Any or all of K390, S90V, SPY 27 and MagnaCut would be great. If Spyderco chose FRN rather than an exotic scale material, that would be fine. FRN is nice as is or, like Doc Da...

Re: Bodacious Update?

Just wanted to share that I think this is a really beautiful design for a working tool. At a $260 street price this is pretty firmly out of the “working tool” category. It does look nice though. Maybe for you. I have plenty of working tools over that mark. Semantics. I read Zhyla's post as meaning:...

Re: How do you close your Manix 2?

Pinch, pull, swipe spine against thigh, pocket.

For all the jimping the Manix has, it could use some at the back of the handle where it contacts the palm, so it doesn't slip when closing one-handed.

Wow! I had to go back and look at Ramzar's photo to verify...yep, not a curved line inscribed anywhere. Trippy!

There are things a Wharncliffe or a traditional blade do better. But when I look at, what is the type of cutting I do with my pocket knife 99% of the time. Hawkbills do it best.

Expand? When are hawkbills best?

Re: Sal, a handle forward Lil Native?

...Completely different story with the Native 5: HERE a choil actually makes the LEAST sense imho. A choil-less Native 5 would, differently to the Lil Native, definitely offer enough space on the handle for almost all hand sizes AND give us more cutting edge. Win-win in my book. While the current N...
