For the record, I get considerable pocket shred on my heavy as well as my lightweight pants. Pockets tend to shred before the knees blow out.

The MXG non deep carry clip is longer than a Spyderco clip and may well be the solution if you are willing to go after-market. I have one and will try it when my Chief LW arrives and can report back.

Ah, gotcha. No apologies needed. We live in a time when subjectivity rules, so if "pivot screws" means "pins" to you, that's cool, no stigma. Same goes for gender.

I have a dog in this fight, preordered a Magnacut NC LW last BF (and still waiting).

I am hoping once the clip length issue is brought to the attention of Spyderco, they will produce a longer clip... ?

This is a great thread to keep current. I think The Wartstein has an excellent idea here!

^ I hope you guys are right, an upside down cage would be a relatively easy fix. Something is keeping the ball from seating all the way in. I would also look for a burr along the surfaces that the ball contacts during lockup.
