they're catalogue ios full of the cheaper somewtimes fantasy stuff that the majority of people like. They're show room does stock plenty of higher end knives including a pretty decent spyderco lineup. I enjoy the heck out of going to the show room it's a pilgrimmage I make about every other year. Yo...

Picture the knife blade as if you are looking at it down the edge from the handle to the tip. There is an imaginary line from the center of the spine up through the edge. The very edge should be on that line. If it is to the right of that line it needs to move to the left of course. Sharpen the rig...

So, I gave it another go yesterday and I'm definetely getting closer. Now, on the matter of reprofiling, how do I know whether or not my edge is centered? I was pretty aggressive with the 120 stone until there was no evidence of the factory grind left on either side which resulted in a pretty large ...

thanks for the tips guys, I was under the impression that if you matched the Ep stone to the factory angle of the edge, then the EP would hit the entire edge along the entire length. As for why I was rotating the blade, it's because if i didn't the Ep stone would hit the blade table. I quick back an...

PM2 on an Edge Pro

I posted this on several forums so some of you may see it several times but bear with me as I'm trying to learn and gather as much info and advice as possible. Maybe some of you guys who are more experienced with the edge pro apex can help me out, how do you sharpen knives with a big up swept belly?...

What an awesome gift. I myself am a big NASCAR fan and my Dad has done the driving experience too, he loved it, we live right around the corner from the Richmond track and a couple years ago I got a chance to take a few laps around RIR in one of these http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg289/avwilli...

Native for me, I'd always heard of spyderco and the native was cheap enough to open the door for me, that was way back in 2005 and as has been said before "it was all downhill from there"

It might be sac-religous but I very much prefer thumbstuds over the spydie hole.

I know it's their trademark so there's no possibility of it going away but I think you could slim down a lot of their knives (a la Para 2) by utilizing thumb studs or even a smaller spydie hole.

my $.02

So as I said I am a sharpening rookie. So this afternoon I put the sharpmaker down and tried my hand at stropping to see if that would help. I stropped on a piece of cardboard with some mothers mag and aluminum polish on it (it's all I have) and now the entire edge is back to hair popping sharp. Thi...

My options right now are a Lansky system, the sharpmaker, and plenty of cardboard to strop on. I seem to be getting somewhat decent results using just the 30 degree setting on the sharpmaker but nowhere near what it had from the factory. Would it be beneficial to use the lansky to take the bevel dow...

Sharpening My Manix

So I broke out the sharpmaker last night as my Manix 2 needed some touching up and now I'm a little confuzzled. this is the first time this knife has seen the sharpmaker and while I'm pretty proficient using it I encountered an off problem. After my usual routine, the blade would shave hairs on one ...
