This slot can also be used to open a shackel key if it is too tight. This may be useful for sailors.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I did get a change to look at a SS Endura PE. I have a couple of questions.

1) How slippery is the SS handle?

2) Is the tip stronger on the endura than the delica?

3) What is an Endura II vs I?

Help me pick a new knife

I had decided that I want a new knife. I have been carrying a seraded Spyderco Rescue for 6 years. The rescue is a good knife, but maybe it is time to try someting different. I have though about a plain edge rescue, but it would be nice to have a tip once in a while.

I would like a plain edge rescue. I see that they are now available. Personally, I am not a huge fan of the serated blade. I does a very poor job of cutting small rope, it is more difficult to sharpen IMO, and I have found that a sharp plain edge cuts large rope (5/16 and bigger) faster and cleaner ...

Straight edge Rescue

I love my rescue, but I am not a fan of serations. Is a straight edge Rescue available. I have thought of grinding off the teeth, but I am suspect that that would end badly. Thanks
