Hi BRJ,
Although we have made numerous minor refinements to the model, the Military is ready for a major design overhaul.

I hate to presume to post my opinion here... but I'm going to. :D

I have a CPM440V Military. The one thing I really think any design overhaul needs (instead of wants, if ...

Wine/Burgundy
Dark Brown
Dark Blue

I wonder if it has to be just one solid color?

Brown with black swirls would make a nice wood look.

I just can't go small. I like the Manix and the Military... everything else seems puny. With a pocket holster, you can wear something as large as a BM Skirmish in thin dress pants without any sort of printing or other issue like that.

A big folder will do everything a small folder will do... but ...

Burgundy/wine would be great. There's no other major factory knives that color, I believe. Pretty much every knife I have is black - now, I like black, but some subdued color would be very nice (I don't want an orange knife).

Any chance of getting something in a 4 inch length? Or 3.9, as is common ...

I have a Cuda Maxx and a Bm 710 in the original type of D2 - no rusting problems at all. Just wipe them off after use. I give them no special care, no surface coating or anything... I just don't leave them wet. Many years, no rust.

CPM D2 is different than regular D2 but I think it's roughly the ...

I just wanted to add...

I really do like the knife very much. I've never had a formal lock failure with it - what I described was the torque of my hand on the handle operating the liner and releasing it when my hand torqued counterclockwise on the handle.

I found these quote from Sal which do ...

I agree - best sharpener out there! I just used mine this morning, changed my right-pocket knife to another in the rotation, and gave it a quick touch up. Great system.

Have you ever had this happen? I ask because I have average sized hands and have never had a Millie unlock on me when I didn't want it to.

Not in the field. I test every knife I have for lock strength and how it holds up to moderate torsion. I replicate essentially what would happen if ...

The Millie almost does it for me

Was on at BladeForums and I wanted to bring this here, to see if anyone agreed. I have a Millie in s60v, which was called CPM440v when the knife was made. It's a great knife, don't get me wrong, but I've always felt it could be so much better.

For me the Millie would be such a winner with only two ...

I always carry tip down, I just pinch the top of the knife, pull it out of the pocket, and it's already in my hand in the proper position against my palm.

Chinook III is very good, actually designed for the purpose you are thinking about, and as far as I know, it's still an active product.

I have a Chinook and a Manix and I actually prefer the Manix (actually I like the Chinook handle and the Manix blade), but except for the sprint run they aren't ...

Hmmm.... lockbars.... maybe I'll try! Then again, I should know better than to mess too much with what already works. Now that I've reassembled the Manix, it really does feel a bit smoother, and I'm pretty happy with that result. Its not just a tension in the screw thing, because it came way too ...

I swapped Chinook III for Manix blade.

And it almost worked great! :D Unfortunately, there is no be no Chinix. Or, a Manook, for that matter. Since I love the Chinook handle and the Manix blade, I really wanted it to work.

Disassembly was straightforward, just a matter of backing out the screw, which does have a drop of loc-tite at its ...

You talking up and down play, or side to side? Every folder (pretty much) will have a little bit of side to side wiggle... but up and down is really unacceptable in that sort of quality knife. I have a Chinook III, its very solid. I'd look into a repair/replacement.

Swapping Manix and Chinook III blades...

I know it probably wouldn't work. And I probably won't even try. But as I compare my Manix to my Chinook III, the appear exactly matched in size, screw location, everything about the blade/lock interface is a perfect duplicate.

Probably the handle on the Chinook would be a little short... or the ...

C95 plain edge, the full size model.

I'm not going to review the design, I'm sure there's a hundred such reviews on the forum. I just want to post an appreciation of the high standards of quality control I see when I look at this knife. Fit and finish are perfect, from the g-10 to steel backspacer ...

I've got the Pro Hunter. Really excellent knife, in fit, finish, materials and design. In fact its one of those knives that could easily be the only knife you need. So if you get it, you'll have to spend some time dreaming up some new feature you think you have to have so you can keep getting new ...
