Never too old to learn.
I get really excited when I discover products that have been under my nose all along. Such was the case with the products below. ZDP-189 Endura 4 A couple of years ago, I ordered the Endura and when it arrived, I didn't feel comfortable with the handle. As I was used to a choil, the difference in fe...

I'm new to the forum. I've been collecting Spydercos for a number of years now, but just recently joined the forum. I've been watching the forum and reading the posts for a year or two now and just joined a month or two ago. I feel like I know some of the frequent posters. That being said, when I f...

I have found Spyderco's FRN to be a great handle material. Even in the absence of the excellent texturing, the fiberglass seems to give the FRN a nice grip all by itself. If you will be in a wet environment, I can't think of a better material. Just as an FYI, Spyderco uses more glass in their mix th...

Unless you are using diamonds on the SM, it will take a month of Sundays to re-profile the 154CM on the Manix2. I too found it a bear to re-profile and seemed about as difficult as M390 to me, however once accomplished, the steel takes a very nice polished edge that wears well. I am not sure what ha...

Is it difficult to heat treat steel? It sounds like it is because the results seem to be different when the same steel comes from different companies and probably different knife makers. If the same ingredients go into a steel but the finished product is different that sounds strange to me. It's li...

Full circle.
My first Spyderco was a PE Native. I fell in love with the hollow grind, swedge and the needle point. Lately, I have re-discovered the charm of the Native. I have determined that I like FRN for it's durability and strength, and I quite enjoy it's light weight too. Today, with my awakening as to the ...
