Re: Colors

I'm OK with the Seki FRN Black, but do like variety as well. For instance I am very fond of the turquoise S30v Endura and the sprint Ivory straight spine Stretch. I also like the green on the new Salt line, although I don't own one; matter of time, I think. I agree that black G-10 look on blue liner...

Re: Why I need a small corrosion proof knife

I like to carry pocket knives in my pocket. It is a habit from childhood. However, my wife has another habit...washing my knives and hers in the washing machine. :grin-smiling-eyes She will get my clothes before I am even finished with them for the day and toss them, and hers, in the washing machin...

there was a whole thread on this not too long ago. you can find it pretty easily if you search "pharmacist." i will warn you though, there is some unwarranted negativity in that thread, so i'm not linking it and only quoting mr. janich's final comment here. To All: I just finished a meeti...

Re: Spyderco 4" Paring Knife Black Sermollan

When I want to slice a tomato ultra-thin or cut up chunks of meat for a stir-fry, this is typically the knife I reach for in my kitchen. Very light in the hand, pretty easy to get VERY sharp, mostly because of how thin the blade is ground at the edge; it holds that sharp edge for a decent amount of ...

Re: Best 'less expensive' folder?

I would say for a $50 workingman's folder it would be hard to beat the large Cold Steel Voyager...three blade shapes to choose from and with Japanese AUS-10A steel that outperforms VG-10. Not the most handsome of folders, but certainly a knife that far outperforms its modest price tag. Very reliable.

My first SlipIt... first Spyderco from Maniago... first white knife and first Damasteel knife. KnifeWorldWV got it here pretty quick also.

Re: KnifeCenter Mahogany Pakkawood Delica back in stock

@Diamondback, I’m not really sure what you mean by that. The “wood” is a bit on the glossy side, but that’s a fair trade off. I did consider the Fällkniven GP back when it came with Cocobolo scales, but even though it’s not quite as nice and luxurious, Spyderco/KC offers a much more practical (to m...

Re: KnifeCenter Mahogany Pakkawood Delica back in stock

Please, no offense to those who love these, but to me the handles look like stained plywood. I do realize the clad HAP40 blades are useful.

The Spyderco Delica 4 VG10 Damascus Blade with Black Pakkawood Handles at $210 is amusing.

Re: FRN Strength / Durability

Incredibly tough stuff...most likely you'll snap the blade, bend the stainless liners, or twist the pivot before you will crack frn. I always chuckle, when I read someone write that frn is cheap and not durable. It reveals that they have little to no experience with it. I just love the frn that Spyd...

Re: If you have not heard, there is a knife called the Caly 3.5

That's an incredibly well-built knife. Very impressive tolerances. I have one of the discontinued VG-10 models and carry it frequently. So easy to pocket, and so very, very useful. My only issue with the ZDP model is the price...YIKES. But that's just a combination of Spyderco and Seki, Japan. You'r...

Re: First time buyer.. what model?

I was going to say what Mike said in the first response to your post. I too began with a first generation Endura in the 1990's. I still have that knife and it functions just fine. Today I usually carry a fourth generation Endura. Call it muscle memory or conditioning, but there is something about th...

Re: vg-10 observations

I bought a SS plain edge Endura not long ago, and the factory edge on it is breathtakingly sharp. I have brand new affection for what Seki is doing...and have absolutely NO concerns about a lack of pivot adjustment or the saber grind. The seam between the lock bar and stainless scale in nearly invis...

Re: Seki City back lock quality in 2022?

I own a generation 1, G-2 Endura and many Seki made Spyderco lockback folders made throughout the years. It's my opinion that the current Spyderco coming out of Seki are the finest made. That isn't to say previous iterations are sub-par...just that Seki made Spyderco knives keep getting better!

Re: FRN/Lightweights: I just can’t get into them

Very fond of the Seki FRN, not so much the Golden stuff. I had a liner-less Native for about 48 hours, and then immediately sold it. Too "plasticy" for me. Every time I handled the knife it made a hollow "clacking" sound. Might try a LW Sage eventually, but waiting on the XL Stre...
