Re: Caly Series. What's Next?

Depending on the size of your hand, some blades are easier to open because of the ability to reach the hole. For me, knives like the Caly 3.5 are very quick to open because my thumb naturally settles on the opening device or hole. Bigger knives can have a long distance to the opener making it necess...

Re: Caly Series. What's Next?

Sal, I’ve been looking for a bigger knife. A bigger Caly sounds great! The one thing that I was worried about is that when you increase blade length, it is very hard to keep the ideal clip to pivot to hole ratio. Is it possible to make an adjustable clip? How about lengthen the wire clip slots large...

Re: How did you get into Spyderco?

A Navy buddy bought a Rescue back in ‘93. It had a yellow handle and full serrations. I was really intrigued by the one hand opening and pocket clip. I went to a local dealer in San Diego and picked up a Delica and the rest was a long journey to find more knives for work. The design was sound, but I...

Re: Throwback Thursday for Spyderco's

Thank you to all for the memories of design perfection. Sal has taken us for quite a ride! Hey, does anyone have a pic of the Military knife with the inlay(Forum knife), missed out on that one!
Best regards, scout

Mr.Goddard inspired me to dabble in knife making. His articles and book were so giving in knowledge for us newbies. Prayers sent to all friends and family.

Re: C15 yes

I don't know why a sprint hasn't been developed yet. With the technology improvements in the last twenty years, the knife would really be a pure revisiting of where we are and where we've been.

C15 yes

What do you all think about a sprint run on the C15? This seems to me to be a no-brainer with the popularity of the 940 Osbourne.

Re: Wegner love. What do you use yours for most?

Mine has about 95% lock up. I could push it over to the other scale, but no blade play. The later versions had a radiused lock. I would love to see a lightweight version with standoffs and a more modern steel.

Wegner love. What do you use yours for most?

I'm good on my Wenger collection, but there are some on the bay if anyone is looking. It is one of my favorite designs and I use mine for Navy shipboard related chores. With the strong tip and high hollow grind it can assume many roles! Oh, and I flame oxidized the clip on the stove.

I run with my Tasman IWB. A running specific knife would be very interesting. We could call it the "Sprint"! :D :D :D

A two bladed knife would be very good. I always carried two knives on me. Manila, nylon and polypro line all respond differently to different steels and grind configurations. As knife steels have progressed over the years, I find myself carrying more plain edged cutlery. A serrated blade is used mos...

I have a question for all you salts out there. Does anyone use their marlinspike for what it was intended for? (Splicing rope) Yes! I would use it more often for loosening salty old knots, opening paint cans and opening shackles. When I first joined the Navy, the older guys all carried Buck 110's. ...

For me, the clip to hole distance is perfect. I think that moving it is a mistake. I would much prefer adding an addition set of holes for those who are deep carry guys. I don't think I've ever seen that done before.

I propose a challenge for you. Put all of your Spydercosa line.... close your eyes and open them all with the thumb hole without flicking them open. I did this and the Spyderco Stretch by far was the most comfortable & easy thanks to the oversized thumb hole and the ratio the hole is to the piv...
