Jeff - the thread is here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=159855 I am not sure why this worked, when all other methods failed for me. But it did work, and work quickly too By the way, how do you tell when you've ...

Hi Jeff, I had the same problem with my Native (440V). It came pretty darn sharp from the factory (I don't know if I could shave with it). However, my attempts to reprofile at 15 degrees did not garner any performance gain; rather, I made my knife dull as a butter knife! The solution - buy some low ...

Question about steels

Specifically, a question about the current popularity of several of the Benchmade offerings with the M2 "high-speed" tool steel option. Is this a "steel-of-the-month" craze, or does this steel really offer something over some of our favorite steels, i.e., CPM-440V and VG-10? I hope it is OK to post ...

Hi Stare This was a similar sort of program. 100 knives for $180. (and in flashing letters on the tube, "Only $1.80 per knife!!!" And they had some of the similar "fantasy" knives that you mentioned. It seems as though they were equal-opportunity ...

Yep - the hole was there. It looked just like the Delica - same blade shape, same hole, everything! It was probably about 9:30 EST when I saw it. I don't know if it is a regularly scheduled show, but they did have another show coming on Sunday, I think. But it was scheduled for very early in the ...

Spydie ripoffs on HSN!

Last night I was flipping channels and came across the Home Shopping Network. Two guys were hawking a 100-piece knife set for $180. Several of the knives were dead-on spydie ripoffs! If I got them all, it looked like a delica ripoff, a military ripoff, and a harpy/merlin ripoff. There were ripoffs ...

ROTFLMAO - rolling on the floor, laughing my a** off (about your post where you draw the beast!) It is a great little knife. Unfortunately, I haven't got much to compare it to, since I've only used one other knife (Sebenza - hollow grind with BG-42). Hence, I can't compare the Native's cutting ...

ROTFLMAO "Sheeple" reactions to the Native - I can't recall any negative reactions to this knife (plain-edged). It is a smaller knife, but it looks a bit bigger due to the blade shape in my opinion. Plus I think that people generally dig the ...

Hi Jeff! It may be too soon to ask this, but what kind of reactions have you had so far to public use?

Thanks Clay. That's actually the hardest part for me - knowing when I am finished on the corner of the grey stones. Slicing paper easily - does that mean to hold up a piece of paper, start from the top and slice with a minimum of pressure? If that is the case, I have reached that step. Catching on ...

Clay - I have the plain edge. Good to hear that I haven't messed up too bad yet! Although I don't think I quite have the technique down yet. I just don't think I'm getting the edge as sharp as it could be. I'm using the 40 degree setting, and following it for the 20 strokes on each side but the ...

Sharpening question

I saw another post over at Bladeforums that indicated that the Native is has a single-sided edge and related that to ease of sharpening. What is a single edge, and is there anything special to do when using the Sharpmaker? How would you tell that it has just the single edge? I've already sharpened ...

Thanks Jeff - that did help somewhat as I was able to handle a Starmate. I didn't think that the Starmate was really all that "scary", and from those pics, the Military looks to be about the same. Your opinion? I have a plain edge Native. It is my first knife, and still the only knife I own. I have ...

Hi samo,

So is it the size that gives the jolt? If so, is it the length, width (thickness), or height of the blade? As I mentioned, I carried a large Sebenza and used it regularly in public, although I didn't wave it around :-), and never had any problems.
