Re: Cricket Lightweight

I would like to see a G-10 version to thicken up the knife a bit. I have most of the previous versions and like the Almite thickness best for using.

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report

The Charisma has been around for a few years, I remember Eric showing it to me at least 2 years back at Blade Show. It feels like an Opinel crossed with a Spyderco, and I was instantly interested. While it looks cool, the RIL Tenacious seems like a knife that will miss some marks, based on 8Cr13 or ...

Re: So, Sal, is the Caly3 model extinct ?!

My plan is to try to revive the Caly Family with a Caly 2.5", 3.0", 3.5", 4.0" and pendants. The maker is small and slower so it will be a while. Probably Carbon Fiber, though I'm open to suggestions. sal Sal, does this mean the 3.5 LW isn’t at the top of the list anymore? I rec...

Re: Price increases for 2024

My Spyderco buying has dialed way back in the last few years. Basically only MAP holidays and an occasional exclusive. Spyderco continues moving out of reach for the average buyer. At least they haven't reached BM level price madness yet. That pricing combined with the several year trend of releasin...

Re: New Discoveries found in 8Cr13MoV testing

Happy that the good Dr was able to shine some light on what must be the most maligned steel on the market. I have found 8Cr13 to be a perfectly serviceable steel. In my younger years, it was what I could afford. I cut a lot of cardboard working retail through high school and college. Byrds and some ...

Wasn't able to get in at the start (middle of a work day timing is a bummer) looks like it went fast. I'd have liked to grab a lil native. Is anything else coming???

Re: Why Do Seki Models Have Lock Rock??!!

...The locks are certainly safe and secure, and Spyderco considers this to be within acceptable limits. Some people can't accept that, and that's unfortunate, because there are a lot of great models to be missed out on. I have several dozen Seki lockbacks and many of them have noticeable lock rock,...

Re: Dragonfly 2 Salt damage (after 7 years of fidgeting)

Yep, the hole should D-shaped, and usually damaged holes are the result of over aggressive screw turning. There's really no way simple opening and closing can deform that hole.

Re: Love of the Nub

Splitting hairs here, but the Watu doesn't have a full choil, it basically has a jimped ricasso, sometimes called a kick.

I prefer a full choil with a nub. For larger hands, a choil that fades to the edge is a real safety issue. I've been nipped. Nobody does choils better than Spyderco IMO.

Where does the Tenacious stand at 15 years old?

I'm curious about everyone's thoughts on the Tenacious as 2023 is nearing its end. In 2008 the Tenacious debuted and not without some controversy. Many declared this Chinese Spydie as heresy or junk with a Spydie bug on the blade. For a lot of others it was an introduction to Spyderco, a favorite an...

Seeing more of Spyderco on social has been a good step forward, but they are way behind a lot of other brands and that has to have cost them.

Re: Linerless Chaparral LW and More Colors

They could certainly reduce the amount of liner and still accomplish the mechanics needed for the stop pin. I'd probably buy another if they did so.

The six steels Larrin mentioned with two in each category of High Toughness (14C28N, AEB-L), Balanced Steel (CPM-154, CPM-MagnaCut) and High Wear Resistance (CPM-S90V, CPM-S110V) are all Stainless Steels. Re: First Spyderco- Tenacious- Got Questions!

Centering may require loosening screws other than the pivot. If it concerns you, try loosening the other screws, then tightening a little at a time on all the screws until you get the desired action and centering. It takes some finesse sometimes.

I've seen exactly one FRN handle broken in my time on this forum and it was run over by a bobcat while stuck into the ground blade first. It's plenty tough, even with no liners.

Re: Slightly longer clip screws for Para 3

Does anybody have a source for slightly longer clip screws for the Para 3? I have some aftermarket scales that are just a smidge too thick. I hate to grind them down if I can just get a few screws. Thanks! If you end up at your local hardware store, the thread type is 2-56. When you order a clip fr...

If you can't find screws, just take a drill bit and countersink the holes so the screws can reach.
It would be pretty hard to countersink holes in a Lynch clip.
