P'kal lock question
I recall that, when I received my P'kal, it required pressure on both sides of the caged lock to disengaged the lock. Now, it's unlocks with pressure on one side or the other (still more than is required if both sides are used, but nothing that can't easily be applied with a finger). The lock itself...

Serrated sharpeing query
Bought my bride a very nice Grohmann serrated bread knife for Christmas (would've got a Yin and yang, but too late, regrettably), and while it won't need sharpening for a good while, it'll need it eventually, and I want to be ready. I've read that the 204 Sharpmaker (whilst officially recommended fo...

Oh, that's not good, sorry to hear it. But they did do fine by me: the whole transaction was very smooth. I did give them a call to check on the status at one point, and quickly got to speak to a very pleasant lady. Unfortunately I didn't take to the Al Mar at all, and it (and its custom sheath) sit...

Welcome aboard...
... but it's a pretty long-standing position here that we don't spend our time discussing the relative virtues of Spydeco and its rivals. Sal would prefer that we don't, so we don't.

Just ordered one at $96 from thebladeshop.com, to be shipped directly to the sheath-maker. The gentleman at thebladeshop was great to talk to: so far, I can recommend them well (but I'll get back to that when the transaction is complete). By the way: the ~$150 price first quoted for this blade is fo...

Sometimes, the news is good!
My best pal smashed his heel last week in an awkward six-foot fall at a construction site. The first orthopaedic consultant told him that he didn't even want to touch it, that he'd never seen such a bad injury to a heel; and that he would likely never work at a trade, play golf, skate, or walk norma...

I'd say that if you've handled that many blades and this is the first one to make you think that way, then back into the box with it: it's clearly not good enough.

Yeah, Deacon, you're right: I guess I was a bit silly in thinking it could be sub-$100; just because it's tiny doesn't mean there's less work in making it. And were it made in China, I wouldn't buy it. I think I will check with STR, thanks. And I suppose if a non-Sino sprint happened I'd buy it anyw...

G-10 Cricket?
I'd really love to have a cricket without metal handles: I'm just not fond of them. But I'm not quite willing to pay $100 for a CF version. I wonder if we might see a sprint sometime?
