Any "kit" that we would make, we would have to put it together and then take it apart to ensure that everything is working properly. So it doesn't end up any cheaper.

And when you buy knives like Spyderco, there's really NO need to take any precautions when you open it, BTW.
Believe me, the Viele will open and close SO many times before there's even visible wear to the lock that there's really no need for that.

Years ago I used to buy leather crafting materials form Tandycraft. Since then I have concluded that chrome tanned leather is better suited to my needs for knife sheaths, Can any of you folks recommend a good mail order source for chrome tanned leather?
