Hi Guys!

One thing to keep in mind as well with the P'kal is that you can use it in forward grip, edge-in.

In this manner, the knife can be used in pulling type cuts for ropes or other flexible material that is aided by pulling with the latissimus dorsi(very large muscles).

Take care.

What for?

Hi dialex,

I was just wondering if you needed to keep your design confidential. I was looking for someone who would be agreeable to a non-disclosure agreement.

I had a couple knives made by David Mosier (http://www.dmknives.com). Fixed blades for me, but he makes folders too and yes, he is licensed to use the round hole

Hi dialex!

Did you have to get an NDA signed?

Thanks to everyone for the great replies! :)

Right now, it looks like getting a patent(utility patent) will cost me more than I currently have. Also, since I have several ideas bouncing around, I am going to look at patenting things myself(saves on the lawyer fees! ).

As an Electrical ...

I guess I can add some info.

Wow! That's an understatement! :D Thanks for the reply, Mr. Glesser!

More than 60% of the "ideas" submitted have been done before. A little research on your part saves us time ($).

I was worried about this as well. I have been going through USPTO documents for the ...

Knifemakers producing prototypes

Any knifemakers in the forum who make custom prototypes? Do you have non-disclosure agreements or would you agree to sign one?

What would be the average cost for 1 proto?

Thanks!

Getting a knife patented?

I was wondering if anyone here ever went through a patent application process. I know that Mr. Glesser has several! :D

If anyone has gone through it, was it worth the effort? What did you like or hate about it?

Thanks!

Just an update...

I got a response and NDA from Peter Jhones. I'm going to hold off on submitting a design at the moment because there may be a possibility that I can patent the design before presenting it to Spyderco.

I think Spyderco has a whole bunch of submissions anyway and kinda busy at the ...

Both Mr. Sal Glesser and Peter Jhones are very receptive and will give you a (highly) professional feedback. Also, Spyderco is well known for its integrity so be sure you'll get the credit you deserve.

Thanks for the welcome and feedback, dialex!

Your statements are a few of the reasons I went ...

Thanks for the tip and welcome, Kristi! :)

I have a mock-up of the concept. It doesn't look pretty, but it definitely shows the intended function. I am considering the plastic/metal prototype, though.

I had an expectation that this may take a while, so no worries about that. Considering that the ...

Hafa Adai, DAYWALKER! :D

Thanks for the insight on your experience.

I didn't think it would be a very fast process, but that is okay. My only real concern with that is if an idea is truly new and innovative, then the longer time allows for parallel invention.

I was hoping to get a utility ...

Thanks for the info and warm welcome, Scott! :)

I did call the Spyderco toll-free number and got the email for Peter Jones in research.

I didn't get a reply yet, but I think it is due to Blade(?).

I was checking to see what designers may have gone through in their submissions. Maybe they can ...
