Re: New Endura back lock super stiff

How experienced are you with back locks? They are made to be harder to open than liner and framelocks with a noticeable bias to close until you get past a certain point.

Re: backlock endurance

Backlocks that haven't seen abuse have unlimited lifespans as I see it. I have backlocks from the 60's and 70's that are still in use. My Spydercos go back to the early 90's and the only one that is loose enough to be concerning is a 80's era police I took in on a trade that had been pounded/batoned...

Re: let's settle this once and for all

Endura in my pocket since 1993. I'm still going to buy and use other knives so I'm unsure what this thread "once and for all" accomplished.

Re: Exotic Animals Invading USA Wilderness Areas

No real way to get rid of carp once they are there. I lived on a nice reservoir in Michigan that was filled with carp. They drained it one year and poisoned the river. They filled it and restocked with native fish and the carp out grew and out bred the natives and that whole thing just made it worse...

I'm thinking the same thing. One of those small, wire edges.
Yep. That is what it sounds like.

Re: Is the Native chief supposed to be hard to open?

Its funny that you say that. when I think of breaking in I picture the metal surfaces basically polishing each other and springs losing their natural tightness and settling into a more normal pressure that they will keep for the better part of their lives That is my experience with Spyderco back lo...

Re: Is the Native chief supposed to be hard to open?

James hits the nail on the head with this: Flickability and "drop-shuttiness" is not a determination of level of quality. A back lock has the backspring, which creates greater closing bias and retention. It's not really designed for flicking. It's not going to fly open as smoothly as, say,...

Re: Most used VS favourite 🤔

Most used for me is also my favorite so I consider myself lucky. The Endura is not my only Spyderco but it is always on hand for use. My old arthritic hands seem to not have any problems and feel just right with the Endura. You can't carry something for 30 years and not get used to it. :)

Re: Overlooked, Obscure Models Deserving Of A Sprint Run?

What say you all? Joe, you have helped us get a few great knives that we might not have seen otherwise so I'll always pay attention to your posts. I really love the blade from the "R" model and would really like one in something nice. Maybe Cruwear-ish even. The perfect leaf shape blade I...

I couldn't get through and gave up after 20 minutes. Everything just locked up here and I had other stuff to do. My future daughter in law just got in from the Philippines and I didn't want to ignore her all day. :)

Re: Considering collecting M.Strider knives

It's mostly the same guys that bring that up over and over. They have been for years. I'm a vet and don't really approve of the whole stolen valor thing but neither am I going to try to sway others into not buying. If someone wants a Strider that is their business not mine. They build, or used to bu...

Re: Considering collecting M.Strider knives

I bought a SMF in CTS-PD#1 ( Cruwear made by Carpenter ) some years ago and never carried it or cut anything. It's still in the plastic baggie it came in. It's built very well and I have no issues with it other than it being too heavy and thick for me. The Endura is as thick a folder as I will carry...

Re: St. Nick’s Exclusive red and black Goddard!

Mine came yesterday. It is pretty good condition and no problems with the edge. I like it and am glad I bought it. 4V is a good steel and the Goddard model is one of my favorite Spydercos. I have two old ones around somewhere. This will get more use than the old ones.

Re: Busse Combat P&L Statement

Yeah man, it's INFI. They actually discontinued SR101. I was a little shocked when that happened. But, is INFI modified A8? I've heard that it is and it isn't. Yes it is. I can't think of another subject that has caused so many arguments, threats, venom and pure contempt as that but it remains A8(m...

Good looking knife!

Are they still using A8(mod) Infi ? I really like that steel. In fact I have a piece of it put away I'm going to have made into a knife with someday.

You bought a used knife and sent it in for warranty? No chance I'd feel right about doing that but glad it worked out for you.

Re: CPM Cruwear chipping?

"Burned" or not, initial factory edges on more than a few of my Spyderco knives, in multiple steels and models, have been more fragile before reprofiling (to a lower angle mind you) than after. Who cares about blaming anyone? just accept that it happens and correct the problem by exposing...
