I think you have a C15 full size introduced in or about 1990. New or near new is a truely rare thing. I think that option 3 is the way to go though with an understanding of what the trust / friendship issue is at hand.

Catalog design, layout and production are usually done many months prior to their release to the public. You go with what you know at the time. The Sharpmaker has both Diamond Rods for radical steel removal or reprofiling as well as some ultra fine white ceramic for a polished finish. You should contact the SFO for info on these additions to your Sharpmaker set. I think you will find that as usual Spyderco has addressed the issue.
