Re: G-10 Hawkbill Anyone?

My SPOTs are reverse-S. At that size, you get about 3/8" of hawkbill. At least the handle is almost big enough to hold on to, even though the ergonomics are terrible, at least for me. I did get a chuckle this morning when I saw this thread right next to the "Upping the price" thread. ...

Re: Got this email about the Emerson CQC - 7, Ernie smiled, and share his philosophy.

I have a few Emersons. The ones I have never held an edge very well in my normal use, in spite of his claims about hard use. I moved on years ago.

Re: Your Favorite Slysz Design And Why

I have one - a Swayback - because it was on clearance at the last Seconds Sale. That is the only reason I have any of them.

Re: Fake Manix 2 LWs on Ebay?

Both the Maxamet and the S90V are / were pin-construction only models as far as I know. The S90V one was a Cutlery Shoppe exclusive, too. I picked up 2 screw construction Maxamet lightweights at the last Seconds Sale, so I know they have been changed over. https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/kk2...

Re: Any word on the Salsa?

Would that be different than the old Salsa with compression lock? Yeah, it would be new. I remember discussion about it and some were in favor of the cobra hood and some not. The hood looks cool, but I personally think it would be in the way of cutting. I didn't remember the previous discussion, so...

I know this is resurrecting an old thread
A 23 year old thread. Wow, how has this forum been going this long?
It has actually been going since the 1990's. It has kept going this long through the dedication of Spyderco and the patience of Sal.

Re: Cricket Lightweight

We did a run of FRN Crickets many years ago. Had problems with twist and the Linerlock. If we ever did it again, we'd have to use 2 liners or change the lock. sal I've tried and tried, but I can't get mine to release that way. Maybe I'm not twisting with a big enough wrench. I can't even imagine wh...

Re: Cricket Lightweight

Now for the bad… the lock is horrible…. Always has been its heavy and causes excess friction both opening and closing, with multiple detents. I can agree with you, because also with my copy it is an extremely stiff and scratchy linerlock. You don't read much about cricket in aluminum construction a...

This is way beyond that.

The one seen on screen was a rubber prop with a flat edge for safety and scallops molded into the front so it would appear serrated.

You're wasting your time. He's blaming Taichung's oil so it won't be his fault that he rusted his carbon steel knife using stainless steel cleaner.

Re: What year Police Model is my lefty??

Sorry, yours is a Gen2. It has the bevelled edges on the handle and the lock release is farther back than the first gen. No steel stamp would indicate approximately 1987 to 1990. Here's a shot of a second gen about the same age between two first gens so you can see the difference. https://hosting.ph...

Re: You got your Ceramic Mule. How you gonna sharpen it?

Because all the cool kids have one? Maybe because the spirit of the Mule Team Project has been washed away on a tide of social media hype? Who knows. After one broken tip and three edge chips deep enough to call for grinder work to repair, I've concluded that this one is not quite ready for my norma...

Re: Military Sprint Runs No More?

It's interesting to me there's always more people lamenting the end of the Military 1 sprints than there are people posting Military 1 sprints in the daily carry thread. By a wide margin, too. Some of us don't post in the daily carry thread. I have never been vain or narcissistic enough to believe ...

Re: You got your Ceramic Mule. How you gonna sharpen it?

I suspect that factory microbevel is what is left of the edge provided by the maker. Basically, Golden just ground a new backbevel and left the maker's actual edge to prevent chipping.

Just my theory.
