We have been using CPM M4, in our BladeSports competition blades for years. Storing the blade dry is important. We also use Silicone spray, purchased at the local ACE Hardware store, to coat the blades before and after competition. I havn't had any rust issues since using this product.

Since the light cutting is separated from the chopping do you have to use the same knife? If not it will be fascinating to see the design changes. Each competitor may use a different knife for each event, or may resharpen before each event. Best of luck Jose! Did they make you a pink Spyderco logo ...
