Well, bad news. Spyderco will not exchange this one because I didn't buy it direct from the Spyderco Store (per C.S. rep). Shame too, because it's not like I got it for a discount or anything ($199 from White Mountain Knives), so F.Y.I. to anyone considering a high-end Spydie- BUY IT DIRECT FROM ...

But it should be glassy smooth, just heavier.

You think Spyderco do anything for this if I mail it to them?

So this will be like the regular native in that it won't have a metal frame that rubs against the blade like the C.F. Stretch II does? I really regret not waiting for this model, it looks awesome!

Also, does this model have those P.B. or teflon washers or anything of that sort? Because it opens and closes kind of stiff, regardless of how much I loosen torx screw it stays the same... is that how the tension should be, or will it eventually "break in" some?

Update on this one, it does have ...

Tried it, but didn't seem to affect anything. Guess I'll give it some break-in time.

Which is G10 and which is micarta?

http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-93703311224345_2023_165272641

The Rukus (610 & 615) have both G10 and micarta inserts, and for all the time I've had it I thought the lighter colored, rougher textured material was G10. But I think I have it backwards- is that right, micarta is ...

strong praise deacon!

O.K. thanks guys. I'll try to clean it, but by "open it up" do you mean simply unfolding the knife (not actually taking it apart, right)? And should I now, or will I eventually, be noticing the amount of tension change as I loosen that screw (once it breaks in)? That's what confused me, that didn't ...

Spyderco Stretch II

My second Spyderco to the Native from Wal-Mart I've been so impressed with the past few years. But this one is really nice. Clean design and well put together. Love the texture of the C.F. handle, which is grippy like G10 but looks smooth (I.E. fine pattern, neat holes etc) and isn't permeable A.F.A ...

Weird. i have three super walmarts within a 10 mile radius from where I live- they all carry it... and they are on the picture!

Oh, physically check them out first before you buy one. So far about 4/5 are pretty "sticky". The opening starts out smooth, then there is a point (or two) in the range of ...

But after reading all of your praises, I'm thinking about getting a S30V Native/SE(not the black coated one) with the thinner handle.

Could anyone tell me how the knife is finished in general. I mean in terms of blade play and the such.

Many thanks in advance.

Yeah I just bought the $40 s30v ...

Ah didn't catch that it was used. Still, that'd be weird, someone swapping that out.

I just want whatever washers that are advertised. If I'm told they are P.B., they should be P.B. Regardless how smooth it is, regardless how little business I have taking it apart.

What about the waves? Has anyone discovered NOT having PB in the waved endura? Hopefully, this is an uncommon mistake.

LOL! I was thinking the same thing. When I first saw the paint wearing off I almost liked it better when I took the clip assembly off entirely.

NICE. Tell me more about that. A torch? I see you did the screws that hold the clip on also.

Maybe that would explain it, except (according to him) he was told these were black, and the grey ones would be coming in 2 or three weeks. Maybe that part was just "sales talk".... (edit) to explain what he thought was black that he recieved. I might call him again.

Thanks for clearing up the controversy. Well, one of the very few nice things about living in NYC is that knife shops CAN be found. I'll just head on over to one of the two I usually go to, and see for myself. Hopefully the dark grey is dark enough. If it is...... out comes the wallet.

getting this black *@#& off the clip

A while back I saw a thread where someone took the black finish off the Native clip. At the time I was just like "ok". But now I see why. After only two days of carrying it, the paint or whatever is on their is already coming off. Looks like garbage.

So how do you do it? Is there a chemical that ...

There is no Black Waved Endura or Delica 4. There aren't any plans for either currently.
