I've been hungering for my first auto, and that just cured me of any interest in a Microtech. :D

[quote="Chucula"]well, i was looking at the zdp chinese lum but $200 is rather high :(
although it could make a good investment like my zdp caly will ]

It is just a guesstimate. And even so, $200 would be MSRP, not street price.

The old MSRP for the VG-10 Lum was $170. No MSRP for the ZDP Lum has been released, to the best of my knowledge. I'd expect it to be close to $200 ($25 or $30 more than VG-10).

The ZDP Jess Horn also has an MSRP of $105.

Carbon fiber is stiffer. It is a functional improvement, IMO, on single nested liner knives like the Military and totally unlined knives. A CF Military seemed stiffer, with less scale flex, to me than G10 knives with dual nested liners. If you get to handle the peel-ply generation of CF that Spyderco...

Right now the problem is that ZDP is only available in high-end William Henry's, and in some long-anticipated sprint runs from Spyderco. This insanity should die down once the market is saturated, where everyone who wants a ZDP knife has at least one. Though it seems like a lot of collectors are try...

I don't think VG10 or S30V are exotic anymore ! Spyderco uses VG10 on almost all there folder and S30V is used by a lot of makers. I doubt if ZDP would really be by that much more than S30V. At least $25 more. By exotic steels we mean S90V, S125V, and ZDP-189. VG-10 and S30V are standard steels for...

I adjusted my original post to clarify this. I was thining US manufacture with S30V, but Japanese manufacture with VG-10 would probably be the same. Think of BM Skirmish pricing as a guideline, IMO.

Hi Guys, It would probably help if we could keep all responses on one thread. The bigger the coonsolidated buzz, the better chance it has of happening. S125V is probably the American-made performance equivalent of ZDP-189. I think a similar RC up around 64. We'll see how it works in the real world.

We had everyone express what they would have liked to see in terms of colour, and we submitted this to Bob Lum. In the end it was his choice, and he chose black. I should note that black is the traditional handle color for these knives in China, as they usually feature scales of buffalo horn.

I think both views are correct - which is the issue. Some users have no problem with closing the BB lock, Some find it a big problem. When it is easy for everyone, we'll have a lock ready for wider use.

Why is :spyder: not making more knives with this great new lock?
