Re: Please Pardon the shameful sales pitch - Rock Jumper

Seems like it's time for an E5. (Or maybe skip the E5 and just make a 4" Rock Jumper. I was about to say hopefully it wouldn't take too long for a new SE Wharncliffe to hit the market, but SE Wharncliffe is the standard configuration for the Rock Jumper, so I guess it may as well keep the Rock Jumpe...

Re: Where does SPY27 Steel sits among the current Steel lines?

I've run multiple tests on SPY-27 in a controlled test in brand new clean cardboard, taping off a 1" section to test until it no longer reliably slices paper. Both the Benchmade Bugout S30V and Spyderco Lil Native S30V give me a test result of about 150 feet, every time. Meanwhile SPY-27 consistent...

Re: CPM-S60V – The Forgotten Super Steel

I've still got an old Kershaw Boa sitting around somewhere. That was one of the first knives I ever re-ground right to flat with the primary bevel. Worst part was after all that work the blade was still only hardened to 56RC, and with an edge profile of less than 5-6 degrees inclusive I could visibl...

Re: Spyderco Lock Type Preference

I voted Compression Lock but my real answer would be the wild and free uncaged Ball Bearing Lock.
It's a strong lock and easy to clean, but more than that both the visual and tactile aesthetic of manipulating the BB is very appealing.

Re: Unpopular opinions

Here's my mic drop of an unpopular opinion: Spyderco should start using the Axis-Lock. Maybe Sal is in a unique legal situation that prohibits it, but the patent is long gone, many companies have adopted it now and I can only see that as a good thing. Moreover I bet Sal can do it better than anyone...

You could always try lapping it on a diamond hone like they do with water stones.
At the very least it might scuff up the surface a bit.

I'm going to say "M4 Mule Team"
Pretty sturdy but you still need to be careful, doesn't like getting wet, always finishes the job.

Re: Got first Spyderco, somewhat disappointed...

I've never had a "good" knife before, but I've heard of the brand Spyderco over the years, so I figured that's the brand I should get. I got a Native 5, which I received yesterday. It was kind of stiff to open at first, so I did a little searching and the recommendation is to sit there watching TV ...

As soon as the first run sells out we need a batch in Maxamet (I still don't have Maxamet yet so the YoJumbo would be the perfect combination).

I like that idea, although that would probably cost alot....
Because of the Hollow Grind it should be cheaper than most other models.

At this point I think the Stop Lock is the next logical progression for the Manix XL.
That or we need a Parata XL.

Re: Want to go to the big leagues....Manix 2 XL or Military

I do prefer PE blades... So you think... ...I find when I cut heavy cardboard... I dare you to get the SE Wharncliffe Endura. You will start searching for more things to cut. It's easier to get excited for a full SE blade when you understand what's going on. Because of the chisel grind profile the ...

Edit Missfire#2 Don't Post When You Should Be Sleeping. (Mods go ahead and combine these if you feel like it) Last one. If you've never had a full SE Spyderco then the Wharncliffe Endura in Full SE would be quite an adventure. https://www.warriorsandwonders.com/Spyderco_Knives/Spyderco_Endura_4_Whar...

Re: Want to go to the big leagues....Manix 2 XL or Military

Edit Missfire (may as well put this to use) Alternatively, the Resilience is one heck of a knife. In a lot of ways I like it more than the Military. The downsides are it's heavier and not as pokey. https://www.warriorsandwonders.com/Spyderco/Spyderco_Resilience_G-10_C142G Let's not forget the grandd...

It's really tempting to say to wait for the Yojumbo, no doubt this is going to be a legendary blade: https://www.warriorsandwonders.com/Spyderco_Knives/Spyderco_Yojumbo_4_S30V_Steel_G10_Compression_C253GP_Coming_Soon I just need to start a campaign to get Sal to make these in Maxamet (thankfully the...
