Apparently, you're not aware of the fact that calling someone else or their gear "Mall Ninja" is very insulting, especially if that person happens to be a professional in their career.

Mall ninjas are wanna-be types who have no real need for such gear, and the term is derogatory. Especially when ...

GreatGonzo, what Spyderco models do you have?

A comparison in cutting various materials (don't expect steel cutting - which seems to be strength of the wielder dependent), fit & finish comparison, ergos, etc. would be appreciated.

As a good shave is important to some people (it is an image thing), I would not call them "losers".

Plus, a good electric shaver is a nice thing to have. My most recent Norelco just plain lets me down. It would have been nice to have other's opinions of this instrument of Don Johnson style shaves ...

The ridicule was the part about "mall ninjas", in addition to criticizing people's choice of gear. Childish, really.

The part about "mall ninjas" is not ridicule, it fits. "Tactical" coatings (I like coatings, myself - BTW), claims of military use, claims of being the toughest SOB knife made, etc ...

doesn't mean you should ridicule others

I don't recall ridiculing anyone.

As for the analogy of brand/type to carrying a knife, it fails. One concerns material issues while the other is an issue of morals, ethics, etc. (non-material, ethereal).

The situation is more akin to "Harley" vs the ...

Actually, the best arguement for buying a Strider knife was talonturbo's. Well done.

Just tired of the same old justifications you read (and sometimes observe) so often. Their performance isn't all that special given the dimensions and materials. What allows one to see them is that people are ...

I find it kinda of frightening that "knife" people fail to observe the relationship of blade thickness to cutting ability as seen with differrent materials. Then, too, the failure to realize that different levels of sharpness (grit at edge) can affect cutting ability.

Nice to see the old "cutting ...

"On the flip side what if Spyderco did?"

Chose CS due to "many" peoples dislike of the firm.

Actually, IF Spyderco made such a knife, I suspect it'd go for 2/3 the MSRP price and probably use a more appropriate steel.

Digging isn't that hard on a knife (unless you're twisting and prying in clay ...

Trust me a Sebbie doesnt not touch a SnG or a SMF in terms of performance or ergos.

You are correct. A Sebbie actually handles and cuts well.

Thick blades, "tough" construction - get a fixed blade.

Me, I value pocket knives for cutting first, tough second.

Price? Whatever, of tertiary ...

Yes, they are the epitome of "mall ninja".

Thick blades, thick scales, blocky in the hand, industrial finish - and people say they are robust, can't imagine why.

They are the U.S. Extrema Ratio.

What killed the electric car? Consumers not willing to pony up the bucks. $3 a gallon gas. Safety nuts.

Searching isn't so bad.

Knives are in class 30, subclasses 159, 160, 161, 162, and in that area.

Pull up the class info, then read what is in the various subclasses.

Maybe a technology search in class.

One bit of interest is that the prosecution of a patent is open to the public, you can read ...

Well, as for reliability, the last three G-Shocks I've owned have been great.

BUT, everyone of them has experienced cold-temperature fogging of the crystal.

That, and less than stellar battery life.

Try the Candlepower forums or one of the flashlight forums.

I would't think that adding a second liner (half-liner) would substantially increase strength lock strength.

To remove the black coating, you're going to have to use crocus cloth (wet/dry sand paper). Take your time so you don't overheat the metal and try to keep from rounding sharp corners. You're going to have to use it regardless, as the blade will need refinishing to a good final finish anyway.

The ...
