knivesplus has them for a beer under $100. I too would be interested in a comparison between the Native and the Caly3.

Sal, thanks for the explanation. I'm looking forward to both new Natives. :)

Hm, especially if they both have screw pivots and interchangable blades - I bet I'm not the only affie who'd want to put the top-quality blade on the top-quality handle. ;)

What Friz said! Except I don't care so much about the 4-way clip, right-side tip-up is all I need. ;)

Thanks Deacon! Those pics are great.

Anyone know the low-down on the liner issue? ... And the release-date issue? :D

Native vs Caly3?

I EDC a Native, but I'd prefer a knife with liners and "classier" handle material. I just now learned of the Caly3 (yes I'm a bit slow), and it looks very promising.

One of the things I love about the Native is that it's very unobtrusive in the pocket. It's about .6" thick at the thickest spot ...

I agree, it's important to match the pitch of the knife to the curve of the edge.

You want to keep the tangent of the edge (in the plane of the blade) at a consistent angle to horizontal, where it touches the stone.

One good way to do this is to observe the edge under magnification and see if the ...

Will the Native also get an overhaul ? Meaning update to overall construction ? Will blade stay same or flat grind ?

I hope the steel upgrade is coupled with a general upgrade of the handle material and construction. I'd love to see metal-lined G-10 handles, nice washers, and all-screw ...

How does the Mini Manix compare in size to the Native? Both pocket-feel and hand-feel are important to me

Native > Lil'T !?

The Native is the most ergonomic knife I have ever held. It keeps bumping nice knives that cost 3 times more out of my pocket.

The big plusses are: comfy, full 4-finger grip (using choil), thin & light in the pocket, one hand opening & closing, dropped-point S30V.

But I would sure like it better ...

Love my Native (Walmart special)! It was my first Spyderco, bought as a backup for my then-edc, an S30V mini-griptilian from that other knife company. Now the RSK sits on the knife shelf while I carry the Native daily. It's the ergos. :D The handle-shape, the choil, mm-mmm.

I bought a Lil'T a while ...

That looks great, txtroublemaker! How does the width and general handle dimensions compare to the standard FRN Native? How about weight?

I hope the Native 4 looks a lot like txtroublemaker's! ;)

The Native is my favourite Spyderco - just wish they made a version more like txtroublemaker's mod.

The Native is quick and easy to flick open using the hole:

Put your fingers on the clip and put the tip of your thumb in the hole. The closed knife should be pointing at your left armpit. Now flick ...

Yes!!! :D

I'm in for a Native with stainless liners, all-screw construction, and G10 or Micarta handle scales. While I'm dreaming, let's add a full flat-ground blade. It's ok if it's a little heavier, but keep the dimensions and shape pretty much the same, the Native's pocket-feel and hand-feel ...

I hope NGK is giving you a refund as its their problem and not yours.
I hope so too! NGK said it'd take 7-10 days for UPS to do the trace, then (assuming the package is not found) 7-10 more days for UPS to reimburse NGK, and then they can refund my money.

Woo-hoo! I didn't really want a Lil' T, I ...

Grrr - UPS "lost" my Lil' T!

I ordered a Lil' T from NGK, S30V leaf PE, but UPS "lost" it in transit. NGK has started a trace on the package but my guess is some UPS handler just stole it and it'll never be found. Now NGK is listing the knife as "out of stock", so I'm looking for another seller.

Can anyone recommend a dealer ...

I ordered a Lil' T from NGK about a week ago, but UPS lost it in transit: tracking shows the package arriving in my state on Tuesday, then nothing. I contacted UPS but they couldnt find it, and told me to have NGK start a trace of the package. I called NGK and they started a trace right away, but ...
