That Lil Temp looks pretty good. It doesn't say Spyderco anywhere but is clearly a Lil Temp clone.

My EDC is a Centofante IV. My primary cutting tasks are cutting open card board boxes, food prep, self defense in emergency. I prefer VG-10 as it is SS yet holds an edge and is still easy to sharpen. It's an ideal all around steel.

The Centofante IV is my hands down all time favorite Spyderco. It's amazingly strong for how light it is. I have used mine thinking it may break because I was using so much force. It didn't even get loose or show any wear.

First one, Delica with the molded clip (old school) in CE. Latest one, Spyderco Resiliance.
What I learned along the way is less is more.

Should the compression lock idea just be abandoned?

The compression lock, the answer to the question nobody was asking. What's the point of it? Who thought it was a good idea to make a lock that was hard to use by lefties AND righties? I don't know a single person who likes any of my compression lock knives. Most of them say the same thing, I like th...

I have owned many of the Spyderco models over the years and the Centofante II in PE was one of my all time favs. I sold mine to JD years ago and despite my begs and pleads, he refused to sell it back. Don't blame him, the PE is hard to come by and is a pocket razor if ever there was one. I remember ...

This confirms what I suspected about Navy being the Chinese maker of some of the Byrd line.

It still has the compression lock that I don't like and the weird shaped grip. Always thought the blade was great but they failed the correct the two biggest drawbacks.

Wow. Such an elegant design. Thanks for the pic. I've been on the prowl for a Centofante 4 for a while now and last week I found one here with a German shop at a reasonable price. Got here yesterday and I'm quite happy with it. :-) http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7003/6563774437_e1096d772a_z.jpg It's...

What exactly broke on that knife? It looks like the blade is off ( obviously) but I can't tell what part failed.

Hi Kgriggs8, Thanx for getting back to us. I thought I might have scared you off. ;) sal not at all. We are on the same team. I was just asking some questions that probably bring up more emotion than facts. I admit I don't know all the Chinese knife companies and probably should not have made assum...

Thank you Sal for clarifying all those points. I am sorry if I let my emotions do my talking. I, like many others here see our country slowly losing ground and it worries and upsets me knowing that our economic future is perhaps not as bright as it used to be. I really enjoy most of my Spydercos or ...

Aren't you confusing SanRenMu with Navy knives here? I don't see any fakes in the current SRM product list but Navy have some very questionable knives and I think Sal has gone on record to say that Navy and SRM are entirely different kettles of fish. If Sal has chosen SRM to make the budget Spyderc...

Remember when we went to war in Korea and Vietnam to prevent communists from undercutting capitalism? Americans died to clarify a line for you and preserve your freedo...

Let me ask you this, is the Spyderco ball bearing lock a copy, fake, clone, knock-off or simply inspired by Benchmade's Axis lock? Cleary the ball bearing lock came after the Axis lock and was an attempt to capitalize on the wildly popular Benchmade design. Spyderco was cleaver enough to change enou...

I am not angry. I was simply asking what specific patents Sanrenmu infringed on when making the 710. It is clearly inspired by the Sebenza, that is obvious. What is not so obvious and what the entire point of this thread is about is, where is the line between a fake and a knife that borrows some sty...

I haven't really looked hard to buy one as a replacement because I am hoping I find the one I lost. I paid $40 for it new and I think that is a great price on one of them. I would pay $70 if I had to but if Spyderco would just start making it again, I would probably find one for $45 give or take. It...

No, I won't "take it down a notch". You think there's a blurry line. I think it's crystal clear where there is obvious theft of intellectual property. Regarding the Sanrenmu 710 my answer would be that if Chris Reeve had an active design patent on the Sebenza at the time Sanrenmu started ...

A sprint run would be fine but I think the knife is nearly perfect as it was. The FRN and VG-10 combo offered a great amount of value while retaining all the function. A G-10 ZDP-189 version would be too heavy and too expensive and I wouldnt buy one. Spyderco already has it's share of heavy folders,...

I thought Navy and Sanrenmu were the same company. It sure reminds me of the Byrd Cara Cara in the texture of the G-10 and the SS liners and whatnot. I would be shocked to learn this was not produced by the same factory that makes the Byrd line. It just looks too much like it in all the little detai...
