Re: Benchmade Bugout Omega Spring Failure

I have a BM 531, Bugout, the BM/H&K Axis-lock, and the original BM 940 in 154cm steel. No Omega spring issues with any of them. My BM 531 has almost seen as much pocket time as my Delica when I worked as a Med Asst/CNA. Even took it along on some camping/Scout trips. Other than some minor side to si...

Re: Are you going to Bladeshow 2021?

I live a little over 1 hour away and, until last year, have attended every BLADE since they moved to Atlanta - so yes I will be going. Not worried about COVID-19. Not that I'm ignoring the risk, just that I work at a hospital and I've been exposed so many times it's silly. Had both shots a month+ ag...

Re: Colors - Talkin' Story - Marketing

What color goes with my EFMB? Sadly my one chance at earning my EFMB I failed night land nav. Granted I did get one of the hardest set of points to plot, but I still blew it. My personal preference is the Brown FRN on my Delica and Manix LW. Blends in well with khakis. I'm also eyeing the ParaMilit...

Re: Colors - Talkin' Story - Marketing

Initially liked colors because it was a change from Black. Now I like certain colors because they blend better with my daily attire.

Re: Caly3: my favorite EDC

My Caly 3 was a Father's Day gift from my wife & sons so it's special to me. It's also the 1st Spyderco with a choil I liked. If I was given free reign to spec a new one:

Caly 3 LW
Cobalt Blue FRN with Fishscale Texture
Screw construction
Wire clip
CPM SPY27 steel

Re: Where to purchase GEC?

Early days of GEC their knives would sit at dealers for months. The Barlow I use to own was bought like a day or 2 after their release. Pretty much only have a few left as I sold a lot for a nice profit. They are very nice traditional slipjoints, but it takes a lot of effort to get them upon release...

Re: Bill Bagwell Passes

Loved reading his articles, and loved his bowies. After listening to James Keating talk about the design features of his bowies I wanted one bad. He was an icon among knifemakers and left his mark.

Re: Should military service be required?

While joining the Army was a good thing for me, I voted No. While being in the Army gave my life some focus, some job skills, and helped pay for college, I saw quite a few soldiers that were not cut out to be in the Army. I can only imagine how worse it could be if service was mandatory. Last thing ...

Re: Wrist Clocks

I've never been a person to wear a wristwatch. The only reason I wore them is out of necessity due to work. Needed a stopwatch feature in the Army to time my runs & used it for taking vital signs as a Medic. Once I got out of the Army I started using a more traditional watch as I didn't need a stopw...

Esee knives are contract manufactured. They probably used what Rowen was willing to work with.

Rowen builds Tops knives as well. Tops has been using S35VN for a little while on some models.

Re: Spyderco Medium Bench Stone - where does it lie ?

I've had my medium benchstone for years. It sits at my computer desk so I can sharpen knives while l playing on the internet. Periodically I will soak it in Simple Green to clean it. Great stone that I sharpen most of my knives on.
