Re: Grip discussion

I prefer my Delica over my Caly 3 because I'm not fond of choils. Of knives with choils I will admit the Caly 3 is my favorite. AAAll that said, the Rhino has been my EDC for a while now. While it is only a 3 finger grip for me, it doesn't feel insecure at all. The only time I can get a 4 finger gri...

Gave an Army buddy one of the FRN versions as a gift. It eventually came apart on him during use.

Re: Ikuchi - The New Kiwi?

Yikes, seems to be an issue with these types of knives. The Ikuchi I handled at BLADE last year did not exhibit any of those problems for me. Granted I only handled it for a brief time at the Spyderco booth. I mostly checked to see if I could feel the edge through the open back and I couldn't, even...

Re: Ikuchi - The New Kiwi?

I saw on BladeHQ a pretty nice Boker that looks like a mini ikuchi. Copper and marbled handles, around the same price as the ikuchi I believe. Was definitely a looker, same blade shape but smaller. Based on Lucas Burnley's Kwaiken folder. I had one I did an article on. Nice knife, but it had a few ...

Re: Spyderco Hatchet

If you use that Hatchet as it was intended those marks will be nothing compared to the new ones. My Gransfors Bruks hatchet has all kinds of scale mark from the forging process, but it didn't make me question if it was defective. Use it. https://i.imgur.com/76CgL0k_d.jpg?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fid...

Re: Axes, Hathcets & Camp Axes

The Estwing hatchets are good - after a bit of re-profiling. Friend at an outdoor skills event had one he'd been using for years.

Re: Axes, Hathcets & Camp Axes

The Fiskars hatchet is a good inexpensive tool that will accomplish most camp chopping chores. But the Gransfors Bruks hatchets are far superior. I was lucky and picked mine up for around $70 before they got popular. Best hatchet I've ever owned. I also use a 2Hawks Tomahawk as a light camp axe if I...

Re: We are saved! Baseball Season is here!

What are your favorite snacks and foods and drinks to enjoy while watching the big game? Mine: popcorn and peanuts (A mix if possible), hot dogs (grilled over boiled), and a good drink of some sort. Old days with the Braves we use to bring coolers into the stands, go buy a Coke and mix up drinks :D...

Re: We are saved! Baseball Season is here!

Nice post Halfneck. I need to be more patient with Atlanta. It's just, I so miss the Ted Turner days ;) I'm not really a sports watcher - I didn't get the gene I guess. Growing up I enjoyed playing the sport, more than watching it. Played baseball & then switched to soccer. Something about the '91 ...

Re: We are saved! Baseball Season is here!

The 1st ever sporting event I went to was when my Mom got tickets through a client at work to a Braves game. That night Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's Homerun Record. I've been a Braves fan ever since. In my late teens, early 20s we use to go to Braves, pay around $8, and walk into an almost empty sta...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2019 Report

So in summary:

1) Police 4 LW
2) Endela
3) Dragonfly Waved
4) Dragonfly Wharncliffe
5) Small Efficient
6) Emphasis
7) Sage 5 LW
8) Native Chief
9) Baliyo
10) Byrd Harrier

Of those I might be interested in the Endela, and a Baliyo might make a fun work toy.

Re: The Delica will never die.

The Delica 4 handle is perfectly shaped for my hand. The wonderful ergonomics let me ignore things like the wasted edge space of the ricasso. When it's comfortable to use and causes no hotspots details like that don't matter to me. I'm not a fan of choils. If a knife has one and the ergonomics are g...

Re: Help me decide which spydie to buy next

I vote for the Chaparral LW.

I wear L to XL gloves and find the ergonomics of the Chaparral LW fine. Sure a Para 2 feels better, but it's a full sized knife. The Native 5 LW and Para 2 LW are smaller, but not so much as to make a big difference in deciding to carry them over your Para 2.

Re: Mora Knives Revisited: What do you like about them and what do you not like?

I've got several Moras and have used them as beater knives on camping & hiking trips. For the money they are an excellent knife. And because they are so cheap you have no misgiving about using them hard.
