I glad I saw this post, Davis. I was thinking to try the exact same thing. Figured dying blue over yellow would make green. I guess not?? Maybe a light tan/brown would work??

Anyone else dye a salt yellow frn??

Ken

Ken,

I used Navy Blue RIT Powder. I guess that it was too dark, I should have ...

I have an Atlantic (Yellow) that I tried to dye green with a blue dye (RIT Powder). It turned out black, and the only way I've found to remove the color is to scratch away at the FRN. This knife is by no means an EDC knife but the dye has held up great.

My pics are in the Thread linked in the post ...

This is perfect. I was just in the market for a lightweight camp knife. I think this is the one. High visibility, 2.8 oz, VG-10, perfect for a backpack.

I was watching Harper's Island (Cable TV Mini-series) and one of the characters (Shane) pulls out a spyderco to carve his name in the bar. It looked like it could have been a tenatious. I'll see if I can get screen shots.

Me too, but it was my first try and I got the knife used for a knife for my tackle box. It's a beater so I don't mind. I personally didn't expect the RIT dye to work so well. It doesn't bother me becasue I would have rather had a Black FRN Atlantic Salt (because I don't like the yellow) so I like it ...

So I dyed my Atlantic salt last night. I used Navy Blue dye on the Yellow handle...............it came out black. I left it in the solution for 15 minutes. Looking back I could have went with a lighter blue dye (Or less of the dye) if I wanted a green hue. Anyway here are pics with my Caly Jr ...
