Red Runner, you said it best! We here may gnash our teeth on fine points, but there isn't a finer line of folders for the money.

When you pull a knife out of your pocket to actually use it, do you really think about how smoothly it opened? I think it's only when we're playing around with them and examining them that we actually think about that stuff :) Actually, I pretty much always consider how my knife will open when I pu...

If they keep coming out with more Sages, I'll need a bigger drool cup.

Hey, one thing I forgot to discuss is how deep the Sage sits in my pocket. I REALLY like that feature. Sometimes my Native would get accidentally snagged on something and pulled out of my pocket. (That is the genesis of my lost knife story.) But, the Sage sits deeper. In fact, the positioning combin...

Birthday Spydie: Sage 1

I posted my saga of losing 2 spydies and debating what to ask for since I had a birthday coming up. I was set on replacing my lost Native. Then, my wife found the Native! At the suggestion of a forum member, I looked at the CF Sage1. That is what I suggested to my wife and that is what I now hold in...

Deacon - that does it! I have printed the description of the Sage I from the NGK website and am passing it to my wife today. Hope she takes the hint!

Dan, it's a tough choice. But, this morning I am leaning toward the Sage I. I like the profile of the blade. I do not yet have a CF Spydie. The size seems just right.

Thanks again, Deacon! I am mostly concerned with the clip being snug enough to keep the knife from slipping out of my pocket. I seem to be able to accomplish that inconvenience all too easily.

Thanks Deacon! In retrospect, I am leaning toward the Sage or maybe the G-10 Delica. I ran into the Persistence and it seemed to be a decent-looking knife.

Guys, I am getting REAL close to wanting a Sage. Got to ask about the wire clip. How has it held up over time? That is my only concern at this point. Thanks!

UPDATE! - Happy Ending!

We were loading up the horses for a trip to Shawnee Forest for a trail ride this morning. My wife caught my attention and flipped something in my direction - my trusty Native! It had fallen into the tack room of the trailer, apparently when I put the dog crate back in there when I had returned from ...

NoBite - it's a Native 4 which comes with a solid clip that attaches with 3 screws and can be attached in 4 ways - left-hand, right-hand, tip-up or tip-down. It's a great design and a slim knife which carries very unobtrusively. It's one of my favorites! Thanks to all for your replies. I really mea...

Hey there NoBite...How'd you lose your Spydies? Way back last winter we had a bad ice storm, the worst natural disaster on record in our area. Our part of the county was out of power 17-22 days. A neighbor rigged up a generator to power his well pump and invited me to come over for a warm shower. I...

My other choice...

My other choice is this Delica with G-10 handle.

I like the G-10 handles. Have an Emerson with them and it is a great knife.

So, I plan on asking for one of these two knives soon. Any opinions on either will be appreciated!

Native question

Regrettably, this year I have lost two EDC knives, my Native III and Delica. Burns my hide. With a birthday in a couple of weeks, I am going to ask my wife for a replacement and am strongly considering this: Native Carbon Fiber PE SC41CFP http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k286/NoBite/sc41cfp.j...

huugh - your statements used to be the commonly accepted truth. However, the latest findings take dispute with those findings. For reference, read Animals in Translation , by Temple Grandin. This is a fascinating look at animal behavior. I have kept African Greys for 24 years. They surprise me often.

Getting tough to open: best cleaner?

I bought my wife a SS Spydie that she loves. But, now it has gotten tough to open. Got some sort of gunk in there and since there is no way to disassemble this knife I am in need of a trick to get it clean and then lube it so it opens slick like it did when new. Any tips for the SS knives that can't...

Are we close to having a low rider clip as an option on our Spydies?
