VG-10 is fine steel. Sure, it doesn't hold an edge forever. It's very easy to sharpen and maintain an edge though.

Don't overthink number of passes. Just do some, check it, and repeat as necessary. Some get a jeweler's loupe to look at their edges, I got a magnifying glass to look at mine.

The Sharpmaker is easy to use, you'll get a feel for it after sharpening a few knives. Get a strop too!

I live in Texas, so I can carry a sword if I'm so inclined.

The largest thing I carry is a Goddard or Endura. The largest fixed blades I'd wear are also in the 3-4in range. Anything larger just seems more than I'd ever need walking around

The LW Goddard with its one piece, linerless handle feels stiffer to me than any Endura or Delica.

I wonder if St. Nick's (and others) often keep some back and dribble them out occasionally. I got a backup the last time they had some for sale, I think about 10 knives then.

Not sure we know enough to say anything. Seems like rules for neck knives would be, "use a sheath", and "follow the same safety rules you would for necklaces". I wouldn't sweat succumbing to a freak accident if I needed to wear a neck knife.

Shame none of these people have a habit of building scales for full sized models. If that was an actual problem, I don't think Spyderco would be selling linerless SALT knives. They've been making linerless FRN knives like the Endura for how many decades?

I have this Manbug and Gerber Shard (small pry/scraper tool) on a small carabiner on my keychain. I'll use this for gift shenanigans.
