I thought SPY27 was supposed to be 'reworked' VG-10?

Re: spot neck knife, salsa, clip it's
The S.P.O.T. ( S elf P rotection O ption T ool) was the first iteration of what eventually became the finished "Swick". As I remember, there were about 22 versions before I was satisfied to make the "Swick" production model. the basis of the tool was the "Finger Ring",...

VG-10 is fine steel. Sure, it doesn't hold an edge forever. It's very easy to sharpen and maintain an edge though.RugerNurse wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 4:24 pmI appreciate you checking. I guess VG10 isn’t the slouch YouTube says it is

Re: Montana Knife Company
I ended up selling my speedgoat. The edge was super thin and sharp but the handle was very uncomfortable. Maybe for skinning it would be ok but not for hiking. I had mine out of the box for all of 5 minutes before I repacked it. I have an RMA already, now to find someplace to print 'just one page' ...

Re: Montana Knife Company
I just got a 'Speedgoat 2.0', and this thing is going back. It feels cheap and flimsy. The parkerized finish is just NOT the move for a blade finish, IMO. PVD coatings are much smoother to the touch. Yes American company, yes lifetime warranty, I get it. This thing is just flat overpriced. Wow. Did...

Re: Questions about using the Sharpmaker
Don't overthink number of passes. Just do some, check it, and repeat as necessary. Some get a jeweler's loupe to look at their edges, I got a magnifying glass to look at mine.
The Sharpmaker is easy to use, you'll get a feel for it after sharpening a few knives. Get a strop too!

Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?
I live in Texas, so I can carry a sword if I'm so inclined.
The largest thing I carry is a Goddard or Endura. The largest fixed blades I'd wear are also in the 3-4in range. Anything larger just seems more than I'd ever need walking around

Re: Janky grind on K390 Delica Wharncliffe
It doesn't look great, but can you photograph the edge parallel to a metal straight edge and not backlit? Best I can get for now. https://i.imgur.com/NwiAB9o.jpg The same person must have ground my K390 Delica Wharnie. It's janky in all the same ways. :zany It slices quite nicely though.

Re: I don't give a #@$! about stainless
I like a nice patina on some carbon steel. I also like stainless steels too. They each have their places. Fortunately for me, it's not too humid where I live, so I can enjoy all kinds of steels. I don't have any kind of 'hard use' requirements in life, I'm mostly a city boy who goes outside when he ...

Re: Street Beat Discussion
We already have one of the Seki makers that is producing a K390 fixed blade (the Enuff 2, and it’s awesome!!). I think a Street Beat LW in K390 is the logical choice for the next enhancement of the model. It’s also probably the only one that has any chance of being produced. I recently picked up a ...

I wonder if St. Nick's (and others) often keep some back and dribble them out occasionally. I got a backup the last time they had some for sale, I think about 10 knives then.

For me, it's the St. Nick's Goddard.
