Hi all.
It has been a while since I have been around--I have been off in the custom / semi-custom / mid-tech knife space. I just ordered and got my first couple of spyderco knives in a while: the Manix 2 and the Swick.
I defy anyone to find a heavy duty folder as good as the Manix 2 or a neck ...

I'd like to hear the story / see the clip
Hi all:
I have a Lil' Temp that I carry a lot but I took my clip off--never liked it. Can you give me the contact info so I can see about getting a custom clip?
Thanks,

good but different
I ran across this thread while i was researching strider. This one and another one here with some serious negative attitude. fwiw, I recently bought a strider pt. I own primarily spydies--90% of my collection. My strider is a great knife--and it is getting a lot of carry time. My strider has ...

Mike! Welcome Back!
I am very pleased that Mike has rejoined the one true faith :) I love the Yojimbo and the general form/function of the knife. I also own the Snody BM version of the tapered handle with the Wharncliffe blade (BM125). I like them both but the Yo is simply a remarkable knife. I feel that this knife ...

Thoughts on Rock Lobster Pricing
I too have been struck by the high price of the Rock Lobster, given the amazingly low prices for a knife like the basic Mili or Para. If one were balancing money vs. a capable knife, the Mili in S30V or the Para is impossible to beat. The general evolution we have seen towards higher price points ...

No contest!
Waved Endura! This is, all around, simply an amazing bargain. VG-10, FRN with steel liners, the wave...this knife is outstanding. This knife is light, strong, great steel...and remarkably inexpensive.

Be Wharned knife
Hi:
I just ran across this knife--and from there this stuff on Spyderco forum. I will buy one of these when they come out. Snody and Janich, who collaborated on the design that became the Yojimbo, Snody's custom Hybrid, and the Benchmade 425 Gravitator did some really nice work here. I have a ...

The chinook III is one of the best
I love the chinook III. It is one of my favorite all time folders--but it is what it is. It is large, heavy, and scary looking. It makes a full size military look almost delicate by comparison---I'm serious. On the other hand, it is probably close to indestructible and the persian blade shape is ...

Centofante C50 and C50S
I have a C50 and a C50S. I love the design. The C50 remains NIB, but the C50S is an EDC. The problem with this knife is that the liner lock does not engage securely and the secondary slide lock on the handle does not feel all that solid. I was carrying the C50S as recently as last week and was again ...

Thoughts on my $50 T-Mag
Just got my very cheap T-mag. It is a nice design and strikes a nice balance in terms of size. The thick CF scales and full liners give it some size in the hand. The blade shape is neat--reminds me of some of the really old classic spydies. The magnet is very weak as a blade retention device, as ...

Chinook III
This is my all-time favorite heavy duty knife. The ONLY drawback is the bulk--it is very large. Now, it actually feels pretty small in the pocket given how big it is--but its still large. If I was going to choose one knife to carry in a backpack for a serious outdoors adventure in the wilderness ...

Further thoughts
I am glad that Deacon chimed in and I also appreciate that my comments have been taken in the constructive way that they were intended.
On my list of most wanted knives, I would put the plain edge Shabaria...perhaps not so functional but it is beautiful and it does look functional if you wanted to ...

Innovative Designs and Usability
Hi all:
I have collected Spyders for years and I have a healthy collection, including duplicates of a number of knives, including Kris, Chinook, Karambit, Waved Endura, Persian, etc. Spyderco has made a remarkable number of unique but also useful knives over the years--and that is what keeps people ...

FRN thoughts
I have a Native with S30V and RN handles that I am not crazy about--just not all that solid--there is and has always been some blade play in that knife. The FRN waved Endura has changed my opinion however. Combined with steel liners and screwed together, this makes a great package. In fact, I ...

Oh man--I laughed more when I went through this post than I have in quite some time. Thanks--the knife and the posts are hilarious. More Spyderco fakes on eBay
Pathetic knockoff of Spyderco--but its the one with Warren Thomas on the blade, etc. I sent a note to the seller telling him/her--but they know:

About Yojimbos
Hi all:
The Yo is probably the most distinctive Spyderco ever made, IMHO. There is no knife like it. The ergonomics of the knife are fantastic. The various 'meat tests' on the Yo (do a search) confirm that this design is exceptional. I have a blue one and a black one and they are certainly worth ...

MBC Designs Etc.
Hi All:
Thanks for your various comments. On the issue of a LEO being injured by someone wielding a tiny knife, you are of course correct that the person holding a tool is typically more important than the tool itself. A great deal of carrying and using a knife as a tool is about skill. I did not ...

Thanks for the responses.
To Wouter: Fred Perrin would be a great candidate IMHO.
I forgot to mention the Karambit, which I believe is a great knife--albeit very specialized. Warren Thomas, who designed that one, would be a great guy to have another collaboration design with.
