Great knife! But...

I prefer SS myself :) . I like the added heft and with the way Spyderco designes their knives they aren't likely to slide out of your hand :rolleyes: .

They are both great knives(of course :rolleyes: )but the main diference is that the Meerkat has alot thicker handles and is a bit longer too but the blades are almost the same. The diference with the blades is that the curves on the Cricket's blade is a little more pronounced then the Meerkat.

Welcome to the forums sublime422! :) I also just got my first byrd knife,a meadowlark. The byrd knives have to be the most knife you can get for the money.
