Third question! How about a UK Hawksbill? The harpy blade looks as if it would sit very well in my UKPK handle.

my ukpk S30v has a heavy bronze discolouration on the lock bar inside the knife, my manix has a little bronze discolouration, I don't think either are rust but at first glance I did wonder .

Andre, you've just reminded me how much I enjoy mine, it is as you say very versatile. I love the look of it and am very pleased with it in every respect, (although I'd probably be reluctant to use it cutting roots on the garden for example) I've just replaced the manix in my pocket with my spyker ...

Hooked

Got my SS Harpy SE on Thursday, now I understand!!!! I have been following the hawksbill threads for quite a few months but could not understand how a hawksbill could be of anything more than limited special use. I have used mine to complete almost every task I use mu "normal" knives for. Once the ...

Interesting thing about the millie

If you sharpen a plain edge millie to hair cutting sharpness and hold a hair between your left index finger and thumb, take a swipe at the hair and hit your finger instead, the millie will take off a lage wedge of skin most of your nail and cut you to the bone. Who would think a 46 year old man ...

I've dealt with heinnie haynes for a number of years and they could not be more helpful. Try e-mailing Linda with your friends route/stopping places I'm sure she will help. I've also prchased from Joe @ extreme outdoors, again he seems to be a helpful guy.

I'm really looking for a folding kitchen knife to remove from the kitchen when I'm not there because if I leave a sharp knife in the kitchen a) my wife cuts herself on my "stupid sharp knives" and b) my carefully sharpened knives are dumped in the cutlery drainer with the dinner knives and forks and ...

.
So far the hollow ground has worked great, it helps to keep cheese from sticking to the blade when I slice it. I don't see a point in making a full flat ground, hollow works for me.

Hollow grind works ok on a lot of food types but if cutting something hard or thick like a potato it tends to ...

I have found 3.75in to be just too short for slicing medium to large onions, my military is just about perfect. A double flat grind 3mm thick, 4 inch long H1, G10 handled folder for food prep would be in my collection as soon as I could get my hands on it.

How to use a hawksbill

This may sound like a dumb question but.... I've been visiting the forum for a couple of months and am really interested in the following the hawksbill has, but I can't quite see how it can be used as an edc other than for SD (out of the question in UK) or for the original fishing situation i.e ...

I'm really curious, i sent a Yojimbo back because the blade had side to side movement & when I looked at the pivot screw it looked as though both were torx and one side was chewed up. My replacement was rock solid but the pivots looked exactly the same i.e. 1 chewed up one like it may be a torx ...

Mike, thanks I'd certainly be pleased to see a regular posting, I live in the UK where even thinking about using a weapon to defend yourself can land you in jail. (slight exageration) So tips on awareness and avoidance which do not involve defence as such will be most useful

Personally I dont like them, I have an emmerson commander (waved) which as a knife I love, but it would for me be even better without the wave feature which sometimes snags my pocket if I am trying to get it out without using the wave, I also have a sog trident which uses SOG's S.A.T.
