Re: Spyderco Endura 4 (wave) Clone

That is another question I had as far as Spyderco policy goes, Teddy. If someone mistakenly purchases a fake Spyderco, and sends the actual knife to Spyderco for verification, will they return it to the person, since they did pay for it, or, will they keep it and/or destroy it? I though I'd read th...

Sure. He could send it in along with $5 for return shipping. Only thing is, I'm pretty sure if it's a fake Spyderco won't return it.

Because you don't need to pass a test and get a license in order to buy a screwdriver.

The ones on the shelf with the Lum Tanto are a D'Allara Rescue, Gunting Trainer, Jot Singh Khalsa, and a Zowada. The one between the two Millies and the Centofante is a SnapIt.

One minor point. Glad you got the clip off, but if a coin worked, the knife is not a Native 4. If it's FRN, then it's either an original Native Lightweight (flat steel clip) or a Native III (wire clip). If it's all stainless, its a Native 2. All of those used the barrel bolt fastener. The Native 4, ...

I'd be more surprised if the "rolling blackouts" situation in Japan has not slowed down production of knives to some extent than if it has. However, in the case of the G-10 Dragonfly, it could also just be that the next batch is on schedule but that demand exceeded Spyderco's expectations ...

Most places measure blade length as a straight line between the most forward point on the handle and the tip of the blade (as in DemskeetSkeet's photo), not just the sharpened edge. That's one of the reasons Spyderco lists two measurements, blade length and cutting edge length. By either measurement...

Come on guys, most of us are fortunate enough to have two hands. All the more reason to purchase a knife that can be opened and closed equally well with either. I find it incredible that so many right handed people are so short sighted as to assume they will never need to use their other hand to op...

If you're afraid a given knife might fail in normal use, carry one that you trust. The only real way to test lock strength is to exceed it. Once you've done that, the knife is broken. Expensive way to gain fairly useless information. If you're venturing into the woods intentionally, you should carry...

You speak of a problem with the grind, but all you mention is that the edge of both knives is dull near the handle. If that's the only issue, and seeing that you seem to have excellent sharpening equipment, a good sharpening would seem to be the solution.

Which probably just means dealers were given an ETA for the Manix Lightweight, and then production was delayed.

Pretty much agree with your list except I'm not sure about the Tuff. ETA on it may still be too far out to include it. I'd hope to see the Sage IV, but don't really expect to.

The blade is 0.120" thick and doesn't taper towards the tip. With the saber grind it gives the feel of a very solid blade. The inlaid steel liners in the typically comfortable FRN grips only add to that feeling of solidity. The jimped top choil and smooth bottom choil give it a very nice feel ...

At one time Spyderco numbered the entire first batch of collaboration model. Generally that meant around 1200 knives, sometimes more, sometimes less. The number on your Chinook simply means it was part of that first batch.

Might just be coincidence but 9 out of my top 10 Spyderco models have 50/50 choils and the other one is a fixed blade. :D But I will also say that not all 50/50 choils work for me. The Manix is one that doesn't, the R2 is another. I attribute that to the finger divider in the grip area, not to the c...

Have they come up with a non-stick coating for cookware that doesn't require plastic utensils? If not, there's not much chance one could stand up to the things a blade must.
