Paul Neither the drug, the doctors or the drug companies are "evil". Oxycontin is a very effective drug for it's intended purpose - for long lasting treatment of pain. Banning it would take it away from those who need such drugs for treatment of chronic pain. Many drugs create dependecies...

Oxycontin from a personal perspective

Glad you got your knife back! I know I don't post here much, but I do lurk around from time to time. I just wanted to comment on the Oxycontin thing. Oxycontin (just Oxy from here on out) is an evil drug. Evil. Oxy is one of the only drugs I know of that people get addicted to while taking it as pre...

It is exactly like the Tomcat. It is the exact same knife, just not sold by SOG. I think Coast may have imported these unmarked knives to the USA, but I can't remember for sure. I just remember wanting a Tomcat and then seeing the "copies" being sold elsewhere and being confused by them. E...

The library needs to invest in a plain paper microform copier. If that paper is that hard to find now, it will be impossible to find in 6 mos.

No problem Daywalker. I just realized that being a CO in Hawaii means you work in **** in Paradise! Ironic. It was very interesting to read your discussions of these matters, since all you Spydernut COs live so far apart from each other. But the job remains the same, so to speak, err write.

Just shows it pays to look hard at eBay. It is so easy to pass auctions like that over. I'm surprised the Q didn't kill and eat the other knives while in transit.

Ed,
That is a funny story. I wonder what was being said as you walked away?

GB,
I forgot all about Murray Carter using it. I don't know that Murray really needs it anyway. My Murray Carter knives hold an edge like a drunk holds a bottle.

Funny all this talk about 440C and how some people look down their noses at it. I remember "back in the day" when Gerber and Buck were the top modern "high tech" knife companies. Back when Pete Kershaw was still working for Gerber! Their main steel at that time was 440C and ever...

I think there is currently only one knife with that steel, a William-Henry. The steel is supposed to be hardenable to Rc 65 without getting overly brittle. Abrasion resistiance is supposed to be far beyond S30V. Is made by Hitachi and they keep the rest of the ingredience secret. Mr. Glesser mentio...

Just reread this again, and I guess the 440C isn't being heat treated here. Oh well I still stand by what I said. Except for the wrong part. :o

Sal answered everything of course. I will add though that if the heat treat is being done in this country, there is a lot more data and experience in heat treating 440C over VG-10. Not to imply that Spyderco doesn't know what to do with VG-10. Think of it this way, VG-10 is like an exotic new sports...

I passed on a chance to buy one of the prototypes at Blade Show a few years ago. I've kicked myself black and blue over that one ever since. I told myself I would just wait for the production version. What was I thinking?

Please don't answer that last question. :D

I have the old style sleeves and they work just as well on my 204 as they did on the 203. If it were me though I'd hold out for the new diamond rods, you'll get more diamond surface area. There has been talk that the old ones had problems with the diamond dust wearing off the sleeve. I haven't had a...
