I get the Sage hype now!

I finally got myself a Sage 1... and I'm very impressed. :D

The build quality, the feel of the carbon fiber (first CF Spydie for me), the way it fits my hand, the weight... I love it.

I was carrying a Manix 2 before because I really liked the way it fit my hand, but it's a bit overly heavy and ...

I've got both and I do prefer the 360. There are more exclusive games that I like and I greatly prefer the 360 controller to the PS3, so with any cross-platform game, I'll opt for the 360 version, and mainly use my PS3 as a Blu-Ray or DVD player.

The PS3 is easily better than the 360 for media/home ...

Apparently you CAN make a knife too pretty

Yesterday was my mother's birthday, and I got her a Dragonfly Tattoo. I knew she'd like it, but as soon as she saw it she pretty much said it's too pretty to use. She doesn't want to "mess it up"!

I insisted she use it, but I don't think I convinced her. :p

I had gotten her an SS Delica 4 a few ...

Thanks BAL! I'll mostly just be chilling out (taking the day off work) and doing some shopping for a new pair of boots - my mind shall remain unaltered! ;)

My last purchase was a Dragonfly Tattoo for someone's birthday present. I haven't even gotten to handle it! (It was really tough, but I didn't want to get my fingerprints on it since it's not my own. ;) )

My last purchase for myself was a Pacific Blue Kopa. I've always wanted a Kopa since they ...

It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years since that day. I was at home and my dad called from work, telling my mom to turn the news on. Even though I don't think I quite grasped the weight of it then, it was still surreal to watch.

I have nothing but sympathy for those whose lives were ...

Enjoy your visit! I totally blew my own visit to the SFO when I took a trip out to Colorado last year... I had been out of the Spyderco loop for a couple of years and didn't know what any of the new and exciting models were, so while it was interesting to look around, I really didn't get that ...

I didn't know the Dodo was making a comeback! What's the steel?

I bought a black SE Dodo quite a while after it was discontinued and the lock seems to be defective. I never bothered to send it in since the model was already discontinued and because it was really just a collector piece to me. (I ...

My pockets are full enough as it is, so I only carry one knife at any given time. That means right now, my small, medium, and large knife are all the Manix 2. :D

I used to carry my SS Cricket on my keyring, but whatever was clipped on my pocket at any given time was always what I used, so I ended ...

The Sage 2 seems to be an awesome platform for customization! (Although this is a bit of an abstract "customization". ;) ) Your "controlled aging" looks really sweet. Makes me want one that much more.

All three variants of the Sage are current production models, so nothing to worry about at the moment. :)

I'm sure somebody else might know more, but I suspect that at some point Spyderco will start phasing out variants (possibly as more variants are released). That's just my suspicion, though, and ...

Thanks a lot! :) That's actually quite a lot bigger difference in length than I expected. (4 5/8 closed on the Manix vs. 4 3/16 on the Sage didn't sound like much in my head.)

The Sage looks perfect. :D

Picture request - Manix 2 and Sage Size Comparison

I've been stuck for about the past week or so trying to decide on my next Spydie. My EDC right now is a Manix 2 that I picked up earlier this month, but now I want something new that's smaller, lighter, and more people-friendly. (Of course, I have several already that fit that description, but I'm ...

Only you can decide if it's worth the money, but the Cricket is a fantastic little knife that can be had for almost half that price if you shop around. :)

What are you looking for in a knife? If you want something that's low-key and office-friendly, the Cricket fits the bill perfectly.

I'd move if that was true.

Ha! Fortunately my mistake was in skimming state laws, which do indeed dictate a limit of 2 inches... in "school safety zones"! I really ought to brush up on local ordinances for nearby cities, but I'd say in general, Georgia law enforcement wouldn't much care if ...

My first was a PE Cricket SS back in '04... I don't recall the month, so I was either 13 or 14 at the time. I had gotten a Case three-blade slipjoint (I don't know the model) for Christmas a couple years before, but though I certainly appreciated the gift, I wasn't that thrilled with the knife ...

I like colored inlays, (like the blue bone Kopa I just got today... :D ) but something about brightly colored G10 and FRN just turns me away, particularly blue like the blue Dodo or the Sage 3.

More subdued colors like gray or foliage green are fine, but I'm not a fan of other colors. They don't do ...

I'm excited... Pacific Blue Bone Kopa!

I've wanted a Kopa since they were introduced, but I just never got around to picking one up. However, perusing Ebay yesterday, I ran across the Pacific Blue Bone version and knew I couldn't pass on it!

I noticed that there seems to be a higher number of the blue bone Kopa on the market right now ...

I think I read that one of the reasons the Sage was made by the Taiwan manufacturer, despite the steel (and handle materials?) coming from America, is that they could more easily handle constant changes to the model. In the case of the Sage, each version would need to be modified to accommodate a ...

I also didn't intend the jump on anyone. For me, it's about avoiding an "us and them" mentality between knife owners and people who have a fear of knives.

I understand the idea behind Minibear453's use of the term, and I have used the term myself, but in private conversation. I think all of us here ...
