Re: Hawkbill Lil Native *now with picture

There are things a Wharncliffe or a traditional blade do better. But when I look at, what is the type of cutting I do with my pocket knife 99% of the time. Hawkbills do it best. Expand? When are hawkbills best? This, I'm curious as well. In my experience hawkbills are one of the least versatile bla...

Re: Sal, a handle forward Lil Native?

I get what you're saying Doc Dan, and I agree with you. I'm not a fan of the grips on the Native or the Lil' Native. They just never felt great in my hands.

Re: The Astute

One of the best designs to come out of Spyderco in years, and it's a shame it was part of the value line. It deserves a better steel.

Thanx Chris,

No problem drawing up both Slipit and Compression Lock.

sal
You make a Slipit Cricket with a very, very dropped point blade and I'll buy one.

How about a Cricket slip joint? It's not like you're going to be stabbing with it.

Re: Corrosion Reports

If you want the strength of a liner, but without the corrosion risk, perhaps the liner could be embedded within the FRN. I've thought about that as well, and I have to imagine there's a reason why it hasn't been done. I wish they'd at least just go back to solid FRN on the Salt series if nothing el...

Personally, I would be perfectly happy with VG-10 again.

No. I prefer smaller knives because I find them easier to carry and more useful.

Re: Corrosion Reports

It's possible that the liners have more rust because of crevice corrosion, and not because they are less stainless than K390. This is it right here. This is why I've never considered adding liners to the FRN models an upgrade. I've always had more issues with corrosion on liners than I have on blad...

Re: Another run of Whale Rescue Blade is needed.

I’m kinda surprised they didn’t make it a “made to order” offering, especially given its usage. Even if they required you to buy more than one of them at a time.

Re: Upping the price.

The price raises suck, and have killed any enthusiasm I may have had for buying any brand new Spydercos. My only hope is that the Spyderco's workers have been seeing pay increases on par with how much they've raised their prices.

A grand total of $0 for me last year. That might change in 2024. It will all depend on what they put out this year.

Re: Vote: Kick? Choil? Forward? Other?

I voted handle forward, with kick being a close second. For me, I find most choils compromise grip comfort. Especially on the Native, where I can only get a comfortable grip by using the choil. The fewer curves and finger grooves on a handle, the better.

i don't think i saw anyone mention the yojumbo, but it has the same blade length as cutting edge. it's one of the few spydercos that offer that spec. another one i didn't see mentioned is the astute. the astute is the only spyderco i've ever handled that feels like it has more edge than it does han...

That site's a knockoff of urbanedcsupply.com. Spend your money at the site you found and you'll be fighting with your credit card company to get it back.

Spyderco has to pay for the Golden, CO. plant expansion somehow.
Gotta be able to keep up production on all those Para 2 and Manix variants.
