Re: Fixed blade EDC

Would hockey tape over the handle make the grip easier on the Fusion? I have seen the knives of Fred and Michael and i dislike the fact that they don't have a handle. I worked with hockey grip tape on my Eskrima sticks and think this could be a good substitute for a handle.

Re: Why don't you Baton?

The same reason i don't use a Ferrari to plow the field. Tools where designed to do soecific things. Pocket knives are designed to be used as light duty cutting tools. I would use a knife in a life or death situation as a baton tool, but i wouldn't test a knife to see how long it will last doing stu...

Another law in Belgium..."Objects and substances that weren't designed to be used as weapons, which have been transformed, modified or mixed to be used as a weapon and which, given the concrete circumstances, are likely to be used by the person carrying or transporting them to inflict bodily ha...

Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?

Well in Belgium there is no true "legal" way to carry a knife. You need to be able to prove that you had a lawfull reason to carry the knife to the judge. A butcher next to his chopping block has a valid reason to have a knife but if they find the knives in his car is already a problem. Ca...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

Opened a cardboard box containing a glass vial with radioactive medication to treat bone pain in palliative prostate cancer patients. It's an alpha emitter so you need to be carefull not to stick yourself with the needle or drop the vial. Sturdy packaging.

Re: What knife steel and handle are best for cold weather high altitude hiking?

Sorry. The 1991 worker with Pro-venator inserts was used on everest iirc. The knife was to commemorate a Swedish climbing team reaching the top of Mt. Everest. It features a stainless steel handle with Pro-Venator (Pro-Grip) inserts. Stainless won't be affected by very low temperature but it will gi...

Re: Spyderco knockoffs or just a possible scam?

The bi-fold was deemed illegal due to US weapon laws considering the bi fold an automatic knife. They stopped producing the knife.
This is a scamming website.

Re: Travelling with Knife in Mexico

Don't go camping in Mexico. If they see someone unknown looking like a gringo they will assume you are a DEA agent or informer. If you are lucky they will only skin you alive before they shoot you. Don't think the states close to the USA are safer then the one's in the South. If you want to enjoy ca...

Re: Defensive Fixed Blade Suggestions

Swick is also a good option. The fact that you have to wiggle your finger in the hole does makes it slower. But also provides very positive purchase on the blade. You can also use your hands with a swick to open doors, use an o.c. spray or even shoot a gun. Emerson made the la griffe with Perrin. Or...

Re: Defensive Fixed Blade Suggestions

The Ronin 2. I carry a clinch pick in pikal front center horizontal on a daily base. Can reach it with both hands. other options are Fred Perrin's designs. Or Bastinelli . Have you thought about a push dagger? Very instinctive, if legal.
