Re: Hiking knife

i apparently wasn't paying very close attention when i first read this thread. Just a moment ago, i read again and realized it's the OP who made the comment about the 5" Perrin "not ideal for the woods". ??? If you have already decided you don't care for it, or not for certain purpose...

Re: Hiking knife

Another vote for the 5" Perrin, for general purposes and light weight. The new hatchet if you plan on a lot of chopping firewood & for shelter building.

Re: Police4 in spyderedge ?

I'd really like the chance to buy a couple of combo edges. I know AFIs have "moved on" from the combo obsession years ago, but many tool users, including one of my sons, have not. A combo police 4 would make a great gift for him & others.

Re: Anyone see Apostle P's rant on Spyderco?

"This entire thing is ridiculous." Amen. There's a lotta crap on youtube, folks. That said, I've carried spydercos for years and never NEEDED to take one apart. Now of course, after i paid for them, they are MY knives. I'll take them apart if i ever need to, if i jolly well please, or if i...

Caly 3 and stretch for me, thank you...

both in frn versions (most bang for the buck) and/or (as long as wishes are horses) in old school polished black paper micarta. Yet another option: black paper micarta with tasteful reverse scrimshaw.

Re: Most Apocalypse Spyderco?

The Hossums would be good choices, I'm a big fan of the Perrin street bowie, esp if i want to travel light. Folders? Too many good choices to list!

Re: Police 4 Discussion/Speculation

I'm very interested in the new version, but i'm another elu so fond of the police 3 that i really wonder what remains to be refined or improved. Inquiring minds want to know!

One feature i'd like to see is a 1/2 serrated option as is still available (afaik) on the steel police.

Re: Harpy G10 Sprint

I'm down with a harpy sprint, but i'd REALLY like to see a spyderhawk serrated sprint, almost any steel or handle. I'd prefer frn to keep the cost down, any color but burgundy. But wouldn't turn up my nose at other handles.

Re: Hiker Knife

I'm a big fan of the FB04 5" Perrin as a lightweight hiker & general purpose fixed blade. Weight is listed as 3.65 oz! I don't find 5" too long at all, especially since i always carry a folder, generally pairing it with a 3" caly or mini-dyad. They don't weigh much either. If the ...
