Thanks for the fast reply. I didn't know about the variant thing. I usually don't go for numbered knives, but for some reason I don't mind it on my new DragonFly. It makes it unique.

numbered Dragonfly 2

Hi everyone,

I just received a PlainEdge DragonFly 2 from one of my favorite online retailers. The blade has the number 167V next to the :spyder: . I'm aware of the Collector's Club numbers, but I've never seen one with a letter. What does the "V" mean?

As far as the knife itself, I love it! I ...

I ordered two black blade SE Para-Militaries from them last week for about $20 each and they both arrived today. They are perfect, genuine Spyderco knives.

I couldn't believe the prices myself...it seemed too good to be true. But it was indeed the real deal. :D :spyder:

TheMikeOfSteel,
The contest ended on December 31.

Congratulations on winning a wonderful knife.

The first post says that the contest will be over on Jan 31, so I guess it's still going on.

Thanks for tip!

I just ordered 2 black-bladed serrated Para-Military knives. One for me and one for my dad.

You can't beat $19.63 for what is a $199.95 MSRP knife!

I'm in NY, so I've never seen one. But, if I'm not mistaken you can die from a Black Widow bite!

Great pics, and a great thread. We can see who is the better Spider... :spyder:

If you want an oil that is safe to use around food, I'd say use Mineral Oil. I first heard about it on this site, and I must say that it works very good.
It's an "intestinal lubricant" (you can figure out what it's used for...), but it works well on knives.
I bought a hair clipper set from a ...

FIRST SPYDERCO: 1997 (Snap-It) I got it for $29 at Dick's Sporting Goods in a mall becuase the guy behind the knife counter didn't know what it was and couldn't find a price. He thought it was a Buck or Schrade but I knew it was a Spyderco. It was the first Spyderco I ever saw in person. I told him ...

I use Mineral Oil on my knives. You can find it in a drugstore or the pharmacy section of Wal-Mart.
I works well, and I've never had any problems with it.

That doesn't seem like the best way to lube a knife. It also seems very expensive and a waste of militec. Militec is supposed to be a precision lubricant, and applied in droplets. It's not meant as a bath for your knife.

I really like it here. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.
I'll be going to an Eastern Mountain Sports soon, so I'll pick up some of the Sterling accessory cord. When I do, I'll have to remember to tie the first knot real close and tight to the handle.

Thanks for all the great info.

Does anyone find that the lanyard may sometimes block the blade when you're trying to open/close the knife? If so, have any of you ever cut off your lanyard by accident when you're closing the knife ...

So this stuff is paracord, huh? That's cool. I looks like it's pretty smooth and flexible, and that it makes great lanyards.

Thanks for the links. I'll have to look into ordering some of this cord. The OD seems to be a good color for knife lanyards.

The knot doesn ...

Hi everyone!
I'm new here, but I've been into Spydies for a long time.

I love these lanyards, they're so cool!
I'm really interested in learning the diamond knot and the Chris Reeve style loop.
Where do you buy the cord to make these lanyards? Is there a certain name for it? I just want a small ...
