Re: What year did they start putting bug on blade?

https://i.imgur.com/RAfhAG9.jpeg The top knife in the pic is the one that popped up on social media and sparked this question. Yeah that is the one. Notice bug on blade and engraving is perpendicular to all the others. The engraving location really is odd. Spydernuts aren't fond of words down the m...

Re: What year did they start putting bug on blade?

That would put it as possible with those dates.

Never seen a Lil Temp with the bug before.

What year did they start putting bug on blade?

I'm trying to remember when the bug...er spyder was first put on the blade.

I'm currently discussing on a different medium, an old favorite Lil Temperance that shows a bug on blade and engraving for where it is made is all different than any other blade I've ever seen. So trying to figure it out.

Re: Montbell Pirka

It does have an attractive grind, but the Deacon is right in that the Delica, which seems just a bit longer and not as much booty, does everything this one does, and with the 4 way reversible clip, more. I had two of this rare bird. One of those things that just isn't exciting to many because of &qu...

Re: Montbell Pirka

Good to see you back, Zen. Interesting story on the Mont-Bell. I imagine Kyle will likely chime in. I think he's still one of the primary folks involved with keeping spyderwiki updated. Btw, do you still have that marvelous collection of Ronins? I always enjoyed seeing pictures of those. Take care,...

Montbell Pirka

Anyone have access to the spyderwiki? I notice the super rare Montbell Pirka isn't in it. Would be a shame to not have that little back alley footnote in the records. Super short story. There was a sporting goods supplier called Montbell who specialized in outdoor goods. Many from Japan. . Roughly t...

Re: Sal's Casual Bombshell Thread

Sorry to ask, but I just stumbled on a newer Spyderco called the Bombshell. I hope somebody reported it in this thread. The person who started it must have been super cool. Good to see you back, Zen. It’s been a while. ;) Still have that impressive Ronin collection? Hi dude. Just passing through. H...

Re: 2002 forum knife question

Thanks for the responses. It has the cavity just no metalic spydie. I got burned a few times when collecting... Me too. I usually just fold up the loss and go on. It really sucks though. Not a huge deal, I bought it years ago and never noticed. I''ve been selling off the collection in a different a...

2002 forum knife question

I have a 2002 Vesuvius Forum knife. Most photos, but not all, that I've seen show a silver bug inlay on the handle. Mine does not have an inlay. I've skimmed through the multitude of threads about the Vesuvius, and I believe there was a Vesuvius version without a silver bug inlay. But I can not figu...

Re: Spyderco Official Discussion Facebook page is up

No there is no reason for a Forum user to jump ship from here, especially if they don't currently use Facebook. It is a good move on Spyderco's part to have an official page over there. The largest of the spyderco fan pages over there is run by egotistical ninnies who are creating a caustic environm...

Re: Home brewing?

Hard Cider, Mead and other fermented beverages are easier than beer, but require pretty much the same gear to produce. I literally just finished bottling a batch of mead. Unlike beer, preparing mead doesn't make your house smell like something died. It is also perfect for lazy people...the longer y...

Re: Civilian vs slash resistant shirt

As for being prepared, well geez I cut my friend in a demonstration, least I could do is do the same to some attacker. :D So YOU cut him? :D I would have a hard time putting much force behind a cut in a situation like that. I imagine you didn't cut too hard either. And it STILL got him. Yikes...

Re: Red loctite

Yeah, I've been watching in the group the OP is talking about. Being oldschool, I have never felt the need to take my knife apart. Some of them seem fanatical about buying knife, take it apart to "clean it" then reassemble. However, when you put screws on something you have to expect peopl...

Re: Civilian vs slash resistant shirt

Is the aggressive edge and shape of the Civilian enough to scare off any potential attacker, or, if you carry it and pull it out to fend them off, should you be prepared for some such attacker to possibly call your bluff, and you be prepared to use it? The others already covered many of the good po...

Re: Civilian vs slash resistant shirt

Hmm, shallow superficial incision/lac 40% of circumference of forearm, suggests it was not too brisk or he would likely have cut deeply into the extensor group. How could he not be aware of the cut, and disengage? Maybe channeling Ahnold: The blade was so sharp no one knew he was cut for a few seco...
