Split back spring UKPK

Greetings you all, :) Long time since I posted and hope everybody is doing OK. I recently bought a UKPK in CTS BD1N. The knife is perfect however after reading a few stories of broken back spring I'm a little concerned. Should I take this into consideration and keep the knife for light use? My typic...

"Gritty" Squeak

Hi you all, I really love my Squeak as edc however when I open it slowly it feels like there is some very shallow jimping on the tang the first 2 mm or so resulting in a somewhat gritty action. I cleaned the knife and even tried to polish the tang but without succes. The action remains even when squ...

Way to go Spyderco

Looking at the 2017 catalogue made me all warm and fuzzy inside :p I won't be able to buy any new models in the near future, but it's good to see that Spyderco brings back the fully serrated versions on new models. Looks like Sal, Eric and crew finally listened to me and JD Spydo; The best Spyderco ...

Re: They Got It Right The First Time IMO

Delica and Endura. Especially the Endura. I have a few Endura's 3 and 1 Endura 1. And that Endura 1 (AUS8 full SE) is far on top in terms of ergo's and blade shape. The Endura4 platform never grew on me. I tried, but got rid of both of them. Native didn't do it for me either. Maybe the new ones are ...

Re: Dull Blade

When I was still collecting (from 2005 till 2010) I ordered all my Spydies from New Graham.
Sure I got some lemons in terms of the ever present vertical play in the back locks, but I never got a dull blade.

Stopped collecting Spydies around 2010 or so IIRC.
I think I've about a good 30ish left.

Re: If someone wanted to buy you a Spyderco for your birthday...

I would be happy with ANY Spydie from 2010 till now.
I think I would ask one of them new Dragonflies or Manbugs :D
They're about 100 euro's over here.

Re: Lost Knives

Lost a Tasman Salt at a job and never found it back. Almost lost a SS Dfly to found it clipped to a swimming bag. "Lost" a Military in the coach of my best buddy. Furthermore I snagged numerous knives out of my pocket by the seat belt of my car. :( That's the reason I hard...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

More often than not it's this one. All I need and I've always loved the mini/micro Spydies the best. ;) Hand picked by (IIRC) Charlyne (??) at the SFO back in 2006 or so  One of my few lock backs with hardly any play. Mini chain saw :D http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/spydutch/20160930_0...

Re: I don't understand how to hold an Endura 4

Exactly the same with me concerning the E4. Tried twice back then and got rid of them twice. On the other hand I have 3 Endura's 3 :D I have an old Endura 1 aus8 and that knife fits like a glove. Wish Spyderco kept that platform to make the improved version. Same about the Delica's as well. To get a...

Re: Changing tastes

I feel the same way about backlocks. I enjoy having other knives with other locks but the backlock is probably my favorite for my users. I am comfortable with the operation, even with wet and bloody hands, and I have confidence in the lock. If I were you, I would give the Stretch or Delica a try. T...

Re: Changing tastes

Unfortunately I have to say I'm with Cujobob. With the exeption of a Navigator G10 Experimental and a Byrd Robin G10 all of my back locks have vertical play in them or devellopped it soon after medium use :( But the last back lock I bought was around 2009, so maybe Spyderco solved the issue a bit.
