Just brought back my son this afternoon. It will be another 3 weeks. We had a nice weekend though. He still likes my Policemodel best. If only his mother knew my son handled my knives(only onder my supervision) I would be in big trouble.(I don't care that much though) When he comes next time there w...

Military SE or not?

I received some money from the employment agency which I did not expect so I am able to buy another knife. I consider buying a Military SE. As I stated in an earlier thread I found the serrations of CPM S30V being rounder(less sharp) than of the other steels. Can anyone maybe tell me how the serrati...

My latest spyder I picked up last friday. It was a Navigator C62GS. Nice little knife. I think my next will be the Military serrated.

I am a big beer drinker. I like Amstel the best. But mostly I drink cheap beer out of half litre cans. I drink about 5 of them in the evening( I never drink during the day and when I have my son over I drink only 1 or 2) I am trying to cut down lately..

Thank you all for the kind words.

My son is nine years old now so he is in elementary school. He lives by his mother (two hour drive from where I live) Normally he is with me once every 3 weeks and half of his hollydays. I've been divorced for 5 years now.

Thanks Deacon,

When I used the sandpaper I first started with 800 grit than 1200 grit and 1800 grit to polish it of. While sharpening I used oil for lubrication. I got my knive pretty sharp this way. Many of my collegues gave me their knife to sharpen it.

CHEEZ,

I did the same, 3 different grits. Do you also use oil while sharpening, I did.
For a knife with serrations I used to roll up the sandpaper very tightly to sharpen it.

Deacon,

I once read in a book about knives( don't remember the title, the only spyder featured was the WorkerSS) that you should never sharpen your knives with sandpaper. They said it would ruin the edge. I didn't care for my knive at work because it was a very cheap one and not my own.

Thanks for telling. I was planning to use Militec myself because a lot of you were raving about it. From now on I will just keep on using my'" White Lightning", it comes of your hands easily. I don't know if it stinks for I almost can't smell(my grilfriends doughter says it does, though, b...

I started my collection with CRKT. But when I held my first Spyder(Salt I) I didn't want a knife fom another brand. Spyderco beats about every other knife when it comes to ergonnomics, looks, quality and sharpness.

My first spyder was a saltI and my second was nativeIII. The native may look bulkier but in my pocket I didn't notice much difference in bulkiness. Another avantage of the native is that it really becomes part of your hand. Try it and you will find out.
