Re: Damasteel Ivory G10 Urban

It is layers of steel throughout the blade, so it’s as deep as it can be. The “etch” people refer to is mostly the patina on the non-stainless steel layers.
This is all, of course, coming from a fan who hasn’t done much looking into the science.

I actually just ordered one from pure blades. It shows they have one left, as does wayofknife.com.

Re: Putting utility aside, what's the best looking Spyderco ever made ?

I can’t decide between the Caly(any), Chaparral, Kopa, Brouwer, or Dragonfly 2. This is extremely hard to choose one single Spyderco. The Paysan and Nirvana certainly come to mind as well, but are too big/expensive for me. Unless it has been done, it would be fun to see which model people see as the...

Re: Sharpening horror

Saddest thing is the kook that sharpened it prolly reckons he did a good job. Too true! It could be so much worse. Could you imagine being the sharpener of this knife, and stumbling across this thread after feeling great about the work, though? Hahaha that would be a downer. I’d find a new job afte...

Re: Direction and Magnitude!

I had one for a few months, but ended up selling it. It’s a bit thick for me, but it was one of the finest knives I’ve ever used. The QC was proper, and the action was incredibly smooth.

Re: I really want a Shaman in M4!

I’m no expert, but I read quite a bit/watch reviews from trusted sources. From what I have seen, Rex 45 is better than M4 in every regard (toughness/edge retention/corrosion resistance/hardness). Even side by side(actual usage) testing proves that it is far superior. Bonus is Rex 45 Shamans are chea...

Dang, I saw one pop up on eBay, checked the site, and gone. I don’t check their site often, and didn’t sign up for notifications. I usually am on top of it, but it seems I slept on this :(

Re: DLT Exclusive - Purple PM2 Cruwear

Just checked my email and I did receive an order confirmation, but the website never actually showed the order successfully completed. Error message every time I tried to finalize the order. Not a very reassuring experience. Sounds like a good problem to have, out of all the possibilities (I.e. not...

Re: Don’t lube your Southard!!

I’ve found too much lube (especially the thicker stuff) can cause the action to feel like it is gritty, even with washers.
In this case, just absorb some with paper or paper towel, and try flipping again. It’s definitely not smart to rinse, then go without applying more lubricant.

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread

These clips look excellent! That said, I don’t have as much of a problem with the stock clip as most seem to have. I’m just happy it is a standard screw pattern. I haven’t played around with it too much just yet, but with little to no use, mine has developed a locking issue. I can force the lock clo...

Way to go, I like the look! Did you thin the scales? That was one of my biggest complaints with the Southard.
IMO, it looks a lot like a thinner Techno, which takes care of my biggest complaint about the Techno :P
Excellent job!

Re: What's Spyderco's Consensus Grail Knife?

Most people: Whats a Spyderco? People who at least know the brand: Wait arent they all made in Japan? People who like the brand but get all their info from youtube: Slysz Bowie People like us with a problem: Whatever is not already in the collection. ^^^Lol, spot on! I’d say the Slysz Bowie, or Spy...

PM sent.

As far as aftermarket scales go, I prefer Fireside or SDK. RC Bladeworks is good, too. I tend to dislike RGT, but need to try them more since I have had varying results.

Re: Pacific Salt on markdown

I have personally bought near 5 of them from eBay, all were 100% as expected. They had black blades, black handles, in PE, and all were 100% new/unused/authentic CQI models. To top it off, each were around $50-$60. They’re my go-to gift knife, since this is how I was first introduced to Spyderco. I ...

Re: Bladeops waved pm2 exclusive

I have to say I am more impressed than I thought I would be. It’s a neat idea, but I am mostly impressed with the different blade grind. It’s weird to see in person, after seeing so many (exclusively) clip point FFG PM2. It’s also a noticeably heavier blade, which changes things up as well. I will m...

Re: Benshot Lil Native Rocks glass

One interesting thing about the blade, is that it's nearly fully finished. It's ground almost completely, just missing an edge, it has all the typical laser markings including a date code, and the spine is even polished around the pivot. I'd be surprised if all that work was done to these blades ju...
